Sweet and Simple

The Enthusiastic Photographer, B&H Photo
25 August 2014
  • Excerpt: I needed a separate shoe mount flash that was within my budget but not too complicated to use. This Pentax AF-200FG shoe mount flash satisfied my needs. Since most of my shots that require flash are typically for parties and some indoor events, this add-on flash more than satisfies my needs and saves the battery life of the camera to focus on taking pictures, instead of splitting its power between the camera and its onboard mini pop-up flash.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easy To Use
  • Cons: Lacks Infra-red Auto, No Multi-angle Flash

Exact device for money...

26 March 2012
  • Excerpt: Easy to use and mount to camera, fast charge and compatible with most auto mode, built in and quality diffuser for wide light. Battery cover is not useful and it's sense of expense is poor. Made in China, no rotation vertically and horizontally, but very accurate to use light sorce and amount of light. Not a stylish flash, a bit heavy cutting edge to exposure of deformation.Enough durability due to the static body.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easy To Use, Fast Recycling
  • Cons: Heavy

Perfect for general use

Pam, B&H Photo
28 May 2010
  • Excerpt: This is ideal as a stronger flash than the onboard flash of the K-X - for everyday situations - parties, fill flash outside, etc. Simple to use and matches up to Pentax K-X perfectly. Haven't had to recharge batteries yet despite using it frequently.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Lightweight, Versatile

decent lightweight flash

28 December 2009
  • Excerpt: Used this on my K100D - this is a decent flash upgrade from onboard. Easy to use - look at the lack of controls on the back of the unit (pro or con depending on your level of expertise). Lacks any type of bounce and swivel functionality, so expect some hard lighting and shadows. Included Sto-Fen OM-PZ8 does *NOT* fit this unit!

  • Excerpt: If you want a flash unit: ... to avoid red-eye, buy it. ... to simply point and shoot, without complicated light measuring, buy it. But if you like complicated things, buy it (it can be used on manual mode). ... to take pictures of family, pets, gardens etc, buy it. ... to have it allways in a (small and lightweight) bag, buy it. ... to do everything i mentioned before and take some control on power of flash, buy it.
