Summary: This is well-matched to the needs of the Panasonic LX3. It integrates well with the camera. It is bulky, but it is difficult to see how a smaller unit could work well. Flash angle is adequate to cover the 24mm-equivalent wide angle of the LX3. One issue is batteries. Panasonic recommends alkalines or Ni-MH recharageables, but this results in short battery life and long recharge cycles. I use Energizer Ulitimate Lithium batteries which seem much more practical.
Summary: I use with Panasonic DMC-LX3K 10.1MP Digital Camera with 2.5x Wide Angle MEGA Optical Image Stabilized Zoom (Black) when I need more wide-angle lighting. GN 36. If you need more light, consider FL500 or use slave flashes. Larger than the camera, which is tiny. 2 AA alkalines offer flexibility. Can also use rechargeable Ni-MH.
Summary: This flash works okay if you are doing close up shots, however does not do a very good job in distant shots (10 - 25 ft) where there isn't a lot of light distribution to help fill the frame...for example: churches have the worst lighting, restaurants and other dim areas. Although, I was experimenting and saving money, I thought this would be a pretty good investment. I've had this flash for almost two years now and regret I didn't get a more powerful flash.
Summary: I use the flash mainly for my macro work... Hence the need for the "Off Camera Cord" The diffuser and the ability to dial the flash power down on my FZ50 is helpful, but the taking the flash off the hot shoe would be way more accurate. The ability to bounce light off the ceiling with indoor shots is a real plus.
Summary: Prior semi-pro current advanced amatuer. I have not used this unit much yet, but thus far I have found it to a good addition to my FZ50, which was purchased as point and shoot alternative to my Canon SLR and all it's equipment. This flash has offered nice flesh tones, as well as the built in does for when extended range is not required. With this exteranal unit I was able to capture acceptable exposure of a stage full of kids, in a dark theater, 100+ feet away!
Summary: With the 360 rotating head that also angles from -7degrees to +180, this fully integrated flash works great in all kinds of situations. On my Panasonic camera, the flash becomes part of the camera -- even the sleep mode of the camera controls the flash. It's a beautiful thing to have the RIGHT flash!
Pros: Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Fast Recycling, Quiet
Summary: This flash allows me to take both portrait and landscape photographs and be able to bounce the flash where I want it. I also works closely with the focus and zoom to provide the right amount of light to perfectly expose the image.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easy To Clean, Fast Recycling, Lightweight, Quiet
