Perfect for Olympus Stylus 1

Ed, B&H Photo
30 June 2014
  • Excerpt: Just "downsized" from DSLRs due to physical problems and needed a flexible on/off camera flash with enough power for reasonable dark plus fill at a distance in daylight. This flash has performed well and is totally compatible with the size of the camera.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Lightweight, Powerful Output, Versatile

Nice addition to my kit

13 June 2014
  • Excerpt: I am not an experienced flash shooter. I occasionally break out the one that came with my E-M1 only to be disappointed in it's performance. I bought this flash to try and learn more about incorporating it into my shooting arsenal. I had been trying to freeze the action of hummingbirds in flight - with the slow recycle rate on my kit flash and my old FL-14 it was literally hit or miss. I started on auto and got results with this flash right away.

Excellent flash for OM-D E-M5

Richard, B&H Photo
8 May 2014
  • Excerpt: The small size and light weight of the FL-600 make it a great companion to the OM-D E-M5. Although a stop less than the FL-50R, it produces plenty of light and fits into my camera bag. It supports sutter speeds up to 1/200 in standard mode and above that in super FP mode. The LED works as either a movie light or a focus assist light. The FL-600 works very well on the camera either as a single flash or as a commander for the FL-50R and the little FL-300.

Excellent Flash for OMD EM-1

  • Excerpt: I really like this flash; it is power and the video light is great for a little fill during movie recording. Also, it can be controlled as a slave in RC mode and works pretty well.

Small andcompact flash

10 February 2014
  • Excerpt: The small in size flash is great with the OM-D camera. It is easy to get to know - how to use, and so far the pictures look great. Although it is not as powerful as bigger flash guns.

An easy flash

Matt, B&H Photo
7 February 2014
  • Excerpt: I bought this flash because I wanted to learn a little bit about flash and I wanted at least one flash that 'just worked' before I ventured into the land of cheaper, manual flashes.I recently got a chance to try the flash out at our company's yearly kickoff party, which was held in a dimly lit bar that we rented out for the night (which fortunately had white ceilings). Using an E-M5 w/ 17mm & 45mm, the flash was a bit unbalancing, but not un-manageable.

Great features in a little flash

14 January 2014
  • Excerpt: I just switched from FX nikon to m4/3, and I was shocked to see how well the Olympus wireless system works. the fl-600r hits the exposure correctly on camera and off. The HSS works wonderfully. I was surprised to discover that the small flash that came with the E-M1 can trigger the fl-600r in the FP mode, since the Nikon system didn't allow the on camera flash to trigger high speed flash. It seems as bright as an SB-700.

Nice alternative to FL-50R

T, B&H Photo
25 December 2013
  • Excerpt: I bought this because I wanted a second RC-mode capable flash to supplement my existing FL-50R. I'm generally pleased with it. It is physically smaller and lighter than its larger brother, and the available power has been sufficient for my needs. Cycle time is noticeably better than on the FL-50R. The sliding lock for the hotshoe foot is great compared to the more common dial/friction lock.

Better results than expected.

Russell, B&H Photo
23 December 2013
  • Excerpt: I'm new to flash photography so I was delighted with the 1st results I got from the FL-600r mounted on my Olympus EM1. There is a wide rage of options, it recycles quickly and was powerful enough even in a larger room if I adjusted the ISO. Highly recommended.

Good, but marginal for bounce flash

RaiderDad, Cameta
26 November 2013
  • Excerpt: I prefer to use bounce flash whenever possible for family and people shots. I use my FL-600R on a OMD-EM5, usually with a P12-35/2.8 lens. My Nikon SB-800 flash will allow bouncing in most standard height reflective ceiling environments using apertures as high as F4.5-f5.0. Under the exact same ceilings, I get a max of f3.5 with the FL-600R and these look underexposed by 0.5 EV. Yes, the batteries are fresh.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Lightweight, Versatile
  • Cons: Weak Output
