Summary: Bought the FL-36R 2 weeks ago to take pictures at my nephew's wedding and I was not disapointed. I used it on my E-500 and one of the biggest plus's was quicker focusing times in low light. I opted to purchase rechargeble batteries instead of the standard AA's and was not disapointed on their performance. When freshly charged the batteries provided a fast recycle time (1 or 2 sec).
Summary: It get the job done for the price but after a month with it on professional assignments (public affairs) I say I'm happy with it but it could be better. The off shoe capabilities are very useful but you have to be close-ish and have a clear view of the light sensor. However it does work surprisingly well if it's behind the camera or otherwise not directly in front, which surprised me.
Summary: Fresh AA batteries recharge the strobe in 4 or 5 seconds. Ten shots later the recharge time is more in the order of 5 to 7 seconds. I don't know if it is reasonable to expect anything better with only two AA batteries AND a strobe with the range this one has. I am using it with an E-620 and a 12-60 lens. I found it necessary to set the exposure compensation +1 or +1.5 for the exposure to come out the way I wanted. What is REALLY GREAT is the focus assist with the strobe.
Summary: This works so well with my Olympus e-520! This was my first DSLR and I was surprised how much flash units can cost for any DSLR. After looking at many photography forums I came to realize there was a reason. I bought a flash unit that would specifically align with my camera. Good move as many forum posters pointed out!
Summary: I bought this flash to improve the pictures I take (on a daily basis) to my two children. I really like to preserve those moments for the future, and I want to have nice pictures, better that those you can take with a P&S camera. This flash has help me some, but the reason I spent the money is because I read (somewhere else) it would comunicate in TTL mode with my FZ50. Well, it doesn't.
