Nissin Di466 FT

amigadude, Adorama
16 July 2013
  • Excerpt: The flash is designed for 4/3rds format cameras. It has a guide number of 33 at 105mm (ISO 100). It has a power zoom from 12mm to 53mm. It takes 4AA batteries and alledgely recycles in 3.8 seconds. Using Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries it recycles instantly. The documentation is a small card with very small print. The 2 year warranty is administered by Minox USA. It did not work properly with my Olympus E510, but perfectly with the E-P3.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Lightweight, Versatile
  • Cons: Weak Output

Excellent Alternative to Canon 430ex II

therickman, Adorama
30 August 2010
  • Excerpt: I purchased the Di466 as a fourth flash to fire as a slave for wedding receptions, so I have 3 flashes on stands. What surprised me is that the Di466 will fire with the Canon 430EX acting as master. (The 430EX's on the other hand will only slave fire with a 580EX as master.) So if you want multiple flashes and don't want to spend another $450 for the 580EX II as a controller, grab a couple Di466's and a 430EX, or even the Di622.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Versatile
  • Cons: "Plastic-y", Limited Head Rotation, Small Reflecting Card

Works with e-TTL, nice canon flash

Wailtd, Adorama
28 September 2009
  • Excerpt: Tested on Digital Rebel-XT, G7, G10. All worked fine w/ camera controlled flash exposure adjustments. Worked fine on Canon EOS-3 and EOS-1V Film Cameras. It even worked on Pentax K1000 in manual mode. No wireless e-TTL control. I got this for an add-on flash for a G-10 and it doesn't dissapoint. Smaller than regular flash, its a good size for the rangefinder-size G10. Generally, it works well and in e-TTL mode seems to recycle quickly.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Lightweight, Versatile
  • Cons: Slow Recycling

Good value

Michael, WEX
29 January 2014
  • Summary: I'm really pleased with my Nissin Di466. Despite some reviews suggesting it didn't seem durable, my opinion is that it's well made and uses good quality plastics - certainly more than I'd expect for a micro four thirds flash that is almost a third of the price of the equivalent Panasonic/Olympus flash.I found that it works well with high capacity rechargeable batteries.Although I have only shot a few indoor photos with the flash so far, the results (all by bouncing off...

Simple but effective

Mike, WEX
24 January 2014
  • Summary: Bought for use with a Panasonic GX1 either at home or in small venue locations. It works seamlessly with this camera and gives consistent accurate exposures. It is not powerful enough to provide effective bounce flash in large spaces, and the fact it only tilts and does not swivel is a slight limitation. Given the modest price. It is a n economical and effective solution and a huge improvement on the built in flash.
