Excerpt: We use these lights every day in our dental prosthodontic practice for photographing teeth and smiles. We also use them laboratory work in a soft box. They consistently fire from the built-in flash.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Lightweight, Versatile
Excerpt: Currently use the SB-R200 that I ordered from B&H as a third speedlight for the for macro work with my Nikon Creative Lighting System (CLS). Super compact and versatile with easy to use controls. Came with all the accessories I needed to match what I already had with my CLS.
Pros: Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Lightweight, Versatile
Summary: I got the R1 flash system and i really don't think their is any flash system out there for macro (or micro) that can come close what this system can do. I added another SB-R 200 for the creativity aspect of having 2 flashes on the ring and one off (sometime all 3 positioned differently) and i always get fantastic results! This flash is intended for close up photography and it does that beautifully!
Excerpt: Great handy little flash. Perfect for macro work, but also great for portrait work as a hair light or even for fill. At events I keep this flash in my pocket and hand hold it to give some dimensionality for close people shots. My only wish is that this flash would also have a true hot foot to allow triggering by means other than IR. However, I understand that this might also defeat the purpose of keeping it small and light.
Excerpt: The Nikon SB-R200 is a little bundle of flash power in a tidy little package. I am still having fun experimenting with the R200 remote from my Nikon D-7000 with it's built- in Flash Command function. Immediately you'll find countless uses for this little flash. Comes complete with a selection of filters, an excellent stand that will thread onto any standard tripod and a fitted nylon case.
