  • Excerpt: For a skilled amateur on a small budget, I really got value for my money. I am very happy with this flash, and I love the variety of lighting I can make with the different tilt settings : )

  • Excerpt: The gentleman with the experience was quite right, portrait photographers normally take their shots in a vertical position, therefore cannot use this flash to bounce light off a ceiling for a softening effect. I too find this unfortunate.

Greatly Improved Unit over SB-N5

Idaho Richard, J&R

  • Excerpt: The only complaint is that it only tilts in landscape mode. I take portraits in landscape and crop slightly. Not a big deal unless are a Pro.
  • Pros: Compact, Easy to Use, Guide Number 18m59ft, Lightweight

Only if you are using up close

Molly, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: I needed a flash to go with my Nikon 1 for a last minute trip I was taking. It works good in close quarters/when shooting subjects up close. It is not powerful by any means and it has two modes, on and off, you can not control it otherwise.

It is what it is

  • Excerpt: Well i knew going in that this had no great features. It does a good job TTL. It has no CLS! to trigger other flash must use in Manual mode and set other flashes on SU4 mode or use Studio flash with slaves. I use it for general TTl and sometimes as a Slave trigger.
  • Pros: Compact, Easy to Use, Great Picture Quality, Lightweight
  • Cons: Cheap Foot Contacts
