Excerpt: Looking for an alternative to the thermal shutdowns of a Canon Speedlite 600EX-RT, I purchased the Mecablitz 58 AF-2 for use on a EOS-1DX. In that respect, it's been operating without issues, in heavy use with a Gary Fong diffuser. I have, however, found the E-TTL exposures to be less consistent than that of the Canon Speedlight. The front facing 'wink light' works nicely under the right conditions.
Pros: Durable, Fast Recycling, Lightweight, Versatile
Excerpt: I bought this flash to use with my GH2 and my recent GH3. Did not have a lot of time to play with it yet, i'm looking forward to that. First impression very well built flash. I love the diffusion filter and the bounce card.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Fast Recycling, Powerful Output
Excerpt: This is the best flash I have used so far for my Sony Alpha SLT A57. Hardly, ever missed a shot with this. This flash is great for run and gun situations. However, the reasons I am giving it a four star is because the fill in flash only works in manual mode. Additionally, the pre-evaluative flash is only for the TTL feature and not for ADI(I guess thats how it is suppose to be). The TTL feature did not live upto my expectations.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easy To Use, Fast Recycling, Lightweight, Powerful Output, Versatile
Excerpt: I purchased the Metz 58 AF-2 because of the short duration of flash, to be able to freeze the wing movement of small birds. Although here in Australia we dont have Hummingbirds, I use very similar techniques to hummingbird photography to photograph the very small and fast birds that are native to here. The Metz 58 AF-2 is quite a powerfull flash and it easily gives consistant bursts and the results are good.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easy To Use, Lightweight, Powerful Output
Excerpt: I am a professional photographer for fashion show field. I am always using speed light device. When I was using NIKON. Nikon speed lights were awesome as you know. However, since I bought Canon bodies, I had some problem with speed lights of Canon. The thing is YELLOW cast in many situation. I bought Metz 54, first, and I was satisfied on that. Now, my 54 died. So, I moved on newer version 58!! Recharging speed is better. And the quality of light is great!
