PURE BEAST!!!

Anonymous, Newegg
24 February 2011
  • Summary: Fits perfect on my Canon EOS 30D. No wobbling at all.
  • Pros: Unleash the power! Easy to navigate with the control wheel. Very fast recycle time and very quite compare to the old 420ex. Wireless trigger function. Dust and Weather resistant. Water resistant? (Not sure and not testing it LOL) 5 star Newegg delivery - always a day ahead for me especial if its ...
  • Cons: Huge!!! It's expected because of the function that it can do.

Buy 2.

  • Summary: I've gotten pictures of our kids in motion in the house which simply were not possible without the power/speed of the external flash. Ditto the pets (dogs and cats). And, for sure, pics that need flash simply look better than with the built-in (and no, I don't work for Canon.
  • Pros: Bright, capable flash. I've a lot to learn about photography. Bought flash in July 2010 - short story: wish I'd bought a lot earlier! Mates perfectly with my Canon EOS 50D. Bought this as a step up from using the built-in flash. What a difference! When you are ready, this is the way to go. Your p...
  • Cons: Should have a battery level indicator. The flash gets a little wonky towards end of battery life (recharges slower, misfires). I just keep 8 rechargeables - 4 in, 4 waiting. I've never needed more. When it gets wonky, I just switch batteries. (I should probably knock an egg off for this, but, the...

  • Pros: Great Construction, 360 degree rotation, stronger power. Works almost as well as some of the studio lights I've used.
  • Cons: Drains battery power EXTREMELY fast... bring extra batteries.

Cooks Pizza with it

Michael F., Newegg
7 September 2010
  • Summary: I shoot with a Canon T2i and a 70-200mm L. Add a battery pack and this flash and you may want to invest in a strap that puts the weight on your shoulder instead of neck.
  • Pros: If you need light, then this thing produces. Sometimes too much and you will end up nuking your target. But thats more me than the unit itself. Enough info in the manual to get you started. But many more tutorials on the web.
  • Cons: As mentioned in another review, the fit to the camera is a little bit loose and moves back and forth on the horizontal axis about 2 degrees. Not a big deal but it annoys me. I knocked an egg off for this reason.

  • Summary: I am 14 years old and bought this flash to use over my canon 580ex II crappy pop-up flash. It is much more powerful than I expected and killer build quality. It is very inexpensive- $389 new off of Amazon.com. It also has a much higher quality of light because of strobe size.
  • Pros: high guide # (190), Extremely good build quality, Flash zoom :), 180 degree range of motionGood weight, Looks cool, Many C. fn., Limitless possibilties
