Summary: My PowerShot A570IS seems to have a wimpy flash that's fine for short distance shots, but isn't strong enough when you're farther away for large group shots. This flash adds a nice boost for those kinds of shots. It attaches easily and securely to the camera using the tripod mount screw hole. And it has its own tripod mount screw hole so you can still mount the flash/camera combination on a tripod.
Pros: Consistent Output, Lightweight, Quiet, Reliable, Small
Summary: All the new powershots and in fact any P&S suffer from terrible flash power. Canon finally released this welcome addition. It does the job perfectly and really worth the purchase. The added bracket fits into the shoe-mount of the camera and the other screw, screws in the flash on the SIDE of the camera. Not sure of the guide number here, but for P&S in decent indoor settings - does the job really well.
Summary: Works very well to light up larger groups and interiors. Fairly easy to dismount and hand-hold for bounce flash use. I only wish that the flash element (only) was able to be tilted up to avoid having to dismount for bounce flash. Recycle time is only a little longer than the camera's built-in flash. It matches my SD1000 Elph well for size and color with NO mounting problems. A good investment if you know how to use off-camera flash techniques.
Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Easy To Clean, Fast Recycling, Lightweight, Quiet
Summary: We use this flash to illuminate objects in low light situations. It has plenty of power to produce acceptable results in most situations. The only problem is the mount is a very tight fit on our Canon SX100IS.
Pros: Attach Securely, Even Light Source, Powerful
Summary: HF-DC1 High Power Wireless Flash for Canon Powershot digital camera can be user for almost any camera where extra flash is needed. I was surprise for the size the power of the flash. With the easy attachable component I will use it for my other camera and my video camera that can take still pictures. I am please with the device.
Pros: compact size, strong flash, and camera attachment
Canon HF-DC1 High Power Wireless Flash for Powershot
11 August 2006
Summary: I was able to buy this flash at a pretty good discount. As the retail price was $99. I don't really think it's worth that much but if you can get it at a discounted price it might be worth it. When I opened the box, it was pretty easy to setup in conjunction with my Powershot camera. It was just a couple screws and that's it. I was amazed at how much light this would shoot out in the dark. It would literally light up the entire room.
Pros: Compact, lightweight, easy to hold when connected to the camera. Highly compatible with most Canon Powershots.
Cons: Does not eliminate the shadow that the PowerShot wide angle lens creates. A little pricey at regular price.
