Used With Gh2 for Video

  • Excerpt: I've been needing an vnd filter so I could record video outside with appropriate shutter speeds and a wider aperture. I debated between the Tiffen and a few other filters (both much higher in cost) and decided to settle with the Tiffen. I've bought adapters for three lenses with different thread sizes and it's had no issues so far (not even at the darker levels). I've also used it for photos so I could keep the same shutter speed and aperture on a shoot when I needed to.

Color deviation to red

  • Excerpt: I started using this ND filter and noticed a color deviation. it was very strange for me because it is supposed that there are no color influences with a ND filter, and I assume that Tiffen is one of the best quality filters but it is not. For my surprise this filter turns to red : (.

Great Vari-ND Filter

Phil, B&H Photo
  • Excerpt: Excellent filter, allows me to focus on lowest filtering factor (2 stops), then rotate the front element to my desired amount of darkening (up to 8 stops, total), giving me excellent control of light. Very useful for effects requiring slow shutter speeds. Great price!
  • Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Use, Improves Picture Quality

Nice Filter

  • Excerpt: Have been using this for shooting video outdoors in high sun to get more shallow DoF. Really great quality, no visual defects- just be careful going too wide with certain lenses to avoid vignetting.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Improves Picture Quality, Interfaces Well With Camcorder

Wonderful accessory

  • Excerpt: Just started using it but I love it. I took some shots of waterfalls and rapids and they look very professional even tho I'm an advanced amateur at best. My only complaint is that I'm not able to use my lens hood while the ND filter is on.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Improves Picture Quality
  • Cons: Prevents Use Of Lens Hood

good enough

sudomaster, B&H Photo
11 August 2014
  • Excerpt: I used it with my 24-105L and Canon 6D. It's great up to 5 stops. At 6 stops, vignette becomes pronounced. I used this to take video under sunlight and taking pictures of waterfalls. I can get exposure of 3 seconds at f/18 which is good enough. If you need to get 30 seconds exposure waves at the beach, don't buy this. It cannot be used with the lens hood. Infact, the lens hood has to be removed to install it.
