Excerpt: I use this filter mainly as a protection for my Nikon 18-140mm lens. Not that it will protect from flying rocks, etc. but it keeps the lens clean and if dust or dirt does appear I can clean the filter to solve the problem rather than risk cleaning the lens. I suspect that any piece of glass placed in front of my lens will have some effect but given the quality of this filter those effects are minimal. It is well worth the money.
Excerpt: very thin, much thinner than previous filter I used so much less vignetting at wide angle. Has threads that allow additional filter to be added. Also like finger grip ridges on rim that makes removing filter easier - especially important for narrow filter.
Summary: Perfect fit to my lens. Protecting original glass of the lens from mechanical damage and filtering UV rays. The photos came without reflection and with reduced glare. Light weight filter. Multi coated filters not required indoor photographing, UV filter provide nice solution for that purpose.
Excerpt: This is my second purchase of a Hoya Pro 1 UV filter. The first one has been perfect for my needs for UV filtering and lense protection. Optically perfect as far as I can tell, slim and unobtrusive. Just the thing to protect your lenses.
