Summary: This convenient tripod is light and sturdy. I've taken it within my luggage for air flights and find the remote most handy and effective for all sorts of impromptu occasions. Last set of video shoots I wound up gifting the tripod to locals admiring it and promptly ordering another for myself.
Summary: What can I say about a modestly priced unit that does it's job. If you are a professional film maker you need more both in camera and tripod. I have worked professionally, I am pleased with the unit, it is a giant step up from 8mm, and much easier than 16mm. For the majority of the people it is more than adequate.
Summary: We operate an acting school, and need to be able to zoom and pan smoothly and easily. Having all the controls on the tripod handle makes this possible. Of course, you're tied to Sony camcorders, but that could be worse. We have Sony HD camcorders that are amazing for their size.
Summary: It is great to have the controls right at your finger tips for the quick action of a basketball game. The ease of pausing during timeouts and the speed of starting the record function make the tripod well worth the purchase.
Summary: I bought the tripod to replace one that broke. I really like using it. I use it primarily to video volleyball games. Pros: - it folds up to be small and easy to carry and pack - I like the controls on the handle it's quicker to setup the shot and take photos while shooting video - it seems sturdy enough for the price Cons: - I wish it was taller - the piece that attaches to my camera is not a great fit but it works; I have a sony camera so I expected it match a bit...
Summary: Found this to be a very nice tripod for the price. Having the controls and zoom at your finger tips was very helpful. Had no problems with it working with my Sony Handicam The only issue is that is a little light weight, even with the fluid dampening in the handle it still shows vibrations on tight zoom shots when you move the camera. Might not work as well with a larger camera. I would still recommend it for most amateur video buffs.
