  • Excerpt: For large groups, weddings, church events sports and more. To improve Sony should recommend a lens hood to fit on camera because the hood doesn't fit this large lens.
  • Pros: Compact Design, Easy To Use, Improves Picture Quality
  • Cons: Poor Interface Camcorder

Best Value

  • Excerpt: This is a Sony G Lens. I got it for my Sony PMW and it works great. It is packaged for a different market (camcorders) thus is roughly half the price of the wide angle extension lens marketed as specifically made for the PMW 100. A 37mm thread is a 37mm thread.
  • Pros: Easy To Use, Interfaces Well With Camcorder

  • Excerpt: I am a professional video producer and use this lens on a high-quality consumer camera for active video shots. I'm impressed with the clarity of the glass, which preserves the cameras' high contrast. And the sharpness holds quite well to the corners.

  • Excerpt: I bought this to go along with my HVR-HD1000. Widens the image noticeably (30%) and makes it even clearer! I see why this lens remains popular. I tested it at night and got good results shooting fireworks.
  • Pros: Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Heavy

Improve your Shot

Xpeditions TV, B&H Photo
4 March 2013
  • Excerpt: My wife and I shoot documentaries in south Americas. In many instances we are in close quarters (a cave, a boat. a hut, or just in the dense jungle). The shots we capture just are not good enough to tell the story with a standard fixed lens. So we started looking much like you might be now..
  • Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Rugged, Strong Construction

  • Excerpt: I use the lens on my Sony PMW-100 XDCAM. It works just as expected - screws right onto the front of the existing lens and increases my field of view. Perfect for use in small interior spaces.
  • Pros: Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Strong Construction

What a lens, man!

Peter the Drummer, B&H Photo
10 January 2013
  • Excerpt: I needed a wide angle lens to be able to include my whole band in the studio {camera on tripod-no cameraperson}. This lens fit the bill. When I attached it to the camera it almost doubled it in size and weight, but definitely an excellent lens. Yes, I would buy it again.
  • Pros: Consistent Output, Durable, Easily Interchangeable, Strong Construction
  • Cons: Heavy
