Summary: For the price it works just fine. Focuses sharp all the way through zoom. This really helps when in a tight place or wanting to get closer to your subject for better audio on the built in mic. I am happy. The lens is heavy, but I like to feel cold steel and glass in a good lens. No plastic.
Summary: I use this lens on a Sony HDR-CX560 HandyCam. It does what I need it to do, which is to show me a much wider view when used in small spaces. As it happens, this rig is used 100% of the time in "nightspot" mode and as far as that is concerned, there is a pretty big caveat with its use. There's no way to put lens hoods on these, and they are very susceptible to lens flares as a result.
Summary: It works fine, give a wide image without aberration. Strong materials and good build. Come with a little cloth bag for carrying it, with an adaptor for another sony model, and a little spanner to attach it. The only con I have found is that it has not thread to atach filters in its front part, and neither in the back part, so it's impossible to use filters.
Summary: Purchased this lens for use with my Sony HD Digital video camera. My main need was to video tape my kids playing volleyball and basketball inside a typical gym. The wide angle adapter allowed me ample width to capture great video. I have used this lens for the past couple years. I'm happy to say that the video was good enough to get my daughter recruited and to receive an awesome scholarship to play collegiate volleyball. I highly recommend this wide angle lens!
Summary: Almost dropped this lens taking it out of the included pouch because it is so heavy. I'm not a professional, but the optics seem very good/clear to me. I can zoom to any level with my HDR-SR11, whereas I would lose focus quickly when zooming with my cheaper wide angle. Bought the lens to record marching band shows and occassionally like to zoom in on key elements and people during the show.
