Excerpt: The ECM-CG50BP is a really good shotgun mic. It does a respectable job of reducing off axis audio. With the low cut on, the wind noise reduction is better than expected. There is a little bit of hiss which may or may not be generated by the mic itself.
Excerpt: I bought it to set up my A7s system for a very important project. The first trouble I got is very hard to tight it on hot shoe because a small tight wheel is under a bigger base. Second trouble is the sounds recorded in windy likes "PI PI PA PA". I returned it.
Excerpt: I ordered this Shotgun mic, to mount to my camcorder for interviews and short films. it picks up direct sound quite well, and I exspecialy like that it is powered by one AA battery, making it very mobile and light weight. Good value for a low budget production.
Excerpt: I use this on my sony camcorder. I film horse clinics and yoga classes outside. While wind noise still gets through if the wind is blowing more than about 7 miles an hour, it is amazing what the mic can pick up, and the clarity of sound is very good considering the circumstances.
Excerpt: I used this mic mounted on a Sony RX10 and if performed beautifully! I love the fact that you can power this mic with the plug in power directly from the camera eliminating the need for another battery to carry around or replace. Great full bodied natural sound!
