    I was really impressed with the screen resolution. This one has a larger screen so you can see more on it than you can with others. Also I always get annoyed when I have to change batteries but this calculator has an automatic shut off to save power. I used it all through the course and I did not have any problems or need to change the battery. I feel like this is the most durable calculator that I have owned. Read more

    First of all, when you're done with this calculator do your self a favor and recycle it for cash on www.cash4calcs.com. I used for calc and statistics, but had to upgrade to a TI-89 for physics and chem. This calculator is sweet - it's like a game boy once you download all the games from your friends. Read more

    We used this calculator for an intro to statistics course in college. Although it was many buttons overrall it isn't complicated to use. The calculator comes with cover,manual but not the usb cable. The price seems to be high for a college student. College students pay enough for tuition, commuting, and books. Texas Intrument should consider a price drop to make it more economical to students. Read more or see product

    The TI-83's are loaned to college students enrolled in math classes. Students find them easy to use, they're durable, manual is good (happy to see it is partially on line now) and meet the needs of the student and faculty requirements. Read more

    So I began taking classes that required this kind of calculator in 9th grade. This calculator uses regular AA batteries which you can find anywhere. This was a great help whenever I did my Trig, Pre-Calc, Calc homework and it was useful in all my college courses. The only problem is that I became dependent on the calculator for answers. When using this calculator try doing the problem yourself first and then use the calculator to check your answers. Read more

    My TI-83+ died yesterday. I bought it in 1999, and since then it has been heavily (understatement) used by me and now my girlfriend's kids. In seventh grade my parents bought me a TI-82 (because it was the same thing) and I found that it couldn't accept games from the 83+, so I had to make my own. I became a TI-82 code monkey, and in 8th grade I used my Christmas money to buy an 83+ (yea, you can call me nerdy). Read more

    • Mine didn't come with a PC link or software, it doesn't look like this one does either. No big deal though, I bought it separate.

    It works well with impressive functions. HOWEVER, if you want to connect to computer, the usb cable is not included. (costs extra [$]) Instead, spend the extra [$]for the TI-84, which includes the usb cable. This saves [$]in the long run. Read more

Features

The Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus is electronically upgradeable. It has 160 KB FLASH ROM memory for data archive and storage of Apps and 24KB of available RAM memory along with TI-GRAPH LINK™ cables and TI Connect software which allows information to be transferred to a computer and printed or stored on disk. The Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus includes Apps such as Science Tools, StudyCards™, Probability Simulation, and Vernier EasyData™. The calculator has 8-line by 16-character display, an advanced function accessed through pull-down display menus, real and complex numbers calculated to 14-digit accuracy and displayed with 10 digits plus a 2-digit exponent and the capability to define, save, graph, and analyze up to 10 graphing functions at one time. Besides that, the Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus can graph 10 rectangular functions, 6 parametric expressions, 6 polar expressions, and 3 recursively-defined sequences. It also allows users to sequence graphing mode to shows the time series plot, cobweb/ stair-step plot, and phase plots. In addition to that, it can store up to 999 elements and has 14 interactive zoom features. It can also perform 7 different graph styles for differentiating the look of each graph drawn and contain horizontal and vertical split- screen options. Furthermore, the Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus execute interactive analysis of function values, roots, maximums, minimums, integrals, and derivatives, matrix operations such as inverse, determinant, transpose, augment, reduced row echelon form, and elementary row operations and 15 probability distribution functions including Normal, Student-t, Chi-square, Binomial, and Poisson. The Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus is powered by 4 AAA batteries with a lithium battery backup to protect RAM memory during main battery change.
