Summary: This is a great boombox, hands down. The sound is clear and full, the bass is rich, and each of the functions (radio, CD player, cassette player, etc.) work quite well, with no complaints. I ordered this primarily because it will play a CD full of MP3 files. It took me a bit of playing with the "Mode" button to figure out how to make the "shuffle" feature work, but it does work, and that makes it really nice... turn it on and listen to fabulous music all day.
Summary: I purchased this product five months ago. I paid more for this than a comparable product due to the Sony name and experience with their products. The Cassette sound has now become intermittent. The warranty is 90 days on labor and 1 year on parts. When I contacted Sony I was given the option of getting a refurbished product for 29.00. They did thank me for my input and would of course use it for the future.
Summary: Sony CFDG700CP CD Boombox Radio Cassette Recorder This Boombox has great sound and power playing my cassettes and my CDs. It has tremendous deep Bass sound and the treble notes are very good. I can hear distinctly every note played without distortion no matter how loud I play the cassettes and CDs. I really appreciate the fact that it has a remote, and one can play the music using a power cord, which saves on the 8 batteries that it also comes with.
Summary: It's rather hard to buy a boombox these days. This one looks ridiculous, like some car amp from the late 90s, but I can forgive that for all of the features. I needed something that could do all of the following: play tapes (audiobooks), play CDs and MP3 CDs, play FM/AM radio, can run off of batteries, and has an AUX in for the phone or iPod. No stupid shelf hifi bookcase system can do all of this.
Summary: Item exceeded expectations. Antenna adjustment allows for clearer radio signals, while controls for both cd and cassette were easy to use both on the unit as well as on the remote. Bass adjustment is quite good. All in all a fine unit.
Summary: Sound is good but this Boom box has a huge foot print. Check out the size specs before buying. Sony also needs to illuminate the display area. A very STUPID idea not to have the display area illuminated and have the center bass speaker illuminated with a silly lighted red ring when the bass button is pressed. Over all if size is okay it's a good box for under $100.00.
Summary: This boombox is truly the best sounding portable you can buy, VERY loud and clear, as good or better than a shelf system, but it has some minor drawbacks that you should know before you buy. What I dislike most are the 5 EQ presets, which are worthless, I can barely tell the difference between them. And there are no infinite bass/treble adjustments on this radio.
Summary: Let me add some context: I am a 59 y/o happily married guy who likes his music loud. When I took this beast out of the box and powered it up my wife thought I was crazy. No surprise there. But even I had my doubts. I mean c'mon, the thing looks like a throwback, like it should be in a Superfly movie or something. Everything about it is ridiculous: the big "X" in the front, the red lights, the little tiny display.
