Summary: The cassette tape device on this player failed rather quickly. The mode of failure was that it would work for a few minutes and then suddenly it would be almost silent. If you listened carefully you could still hear a very soft version of the material being played but the sound volume had gone almost entirely. Since I felt that Sony has always been a quality product, I bought the newer version of this same device. The new version is shaped more like a football.
Summary: I've had this over three years now. I love the way it looks, how it fits in a smaller space than most cd players and the sound is really great, especially for the price. I really enjoy having the remote control, makes it so easy to stop and restart if you want to listen to a song again or you're listening to language cd's.
Summary: This radio/CD/cassette player is holding up in a house remodeling project. It has very good sound, even when turned up REALLY LOUD. Sometimes the CD skips or pauses but only when nearby banging or dropping of objects occurs. It would be nice if the radio tuner didn't stop at every station along the way, or maybe I just don't know how to use it yet. No manual came with it. Perfect size. It was on the expensive side, though.
Summary: I purchased this item and received it during November 2008..Used it very little..On Christmas Day 2009 it just stopped working...no power coming thru on AC operation....No help available and all Sony wants to do is exchange it for about the same price I paid ($67.00) for the new one which means I would have to pay shipping charges both ways. Not a good deal!!
Summary: My wife is a violinist who listens to CD's of works she will be performing to get the feel for them. This is the best small, versatile (AC or DC so it can go with her whereever she is practicing, such as the backyard) with ease. Very small footprint for such a good unit. Good sound (nothing like our Bose speakers, but certainly adequate for what she needs.) Very pleased with it.
Summary: I had this same boombox for about 5 years, and liked it so much I bought another one. I listen to books on tape and cd everyday. It is quiet, not like some where you hear the cd going around, and I love the remote.
Summary: I needed something that I could take around the house and sometimes to church that wouldn't be too bulky and yet would work well. This is a nice unit. I like the stability of the design. The sound is really rather good. It's nice to have an actual antenna as well. That makes it much easier to pick up more and clearer radio signals. It looks looks nice and can fit in a fairly small space. I only paid about $60 for it and I consider it well worth the money spent.
