Summary: Amazing sound out of such a small package. But no light weight by any means, just heft this unit and you will know there are some really good components inside. Delivers great sound quality out of the CD, and tape deck too. Fit and finish is above average and it even has a little cabinet door that swings into place to cover the tape deck controls when not in use.
Summary: I originally purchased this boombox for my wedding. It had everything we needed, wasn't big and bulky, and had great reviews, so we decided to try it. First off, I want to say that I'm very impressed with the sound quality of this boombox. It sounds great outdoors, which is what we were hoping, since our wedding ceremony was outside. It's great that it has a usb port in it too so you can play music from your computer or phone, if you want.
Summary: It's a crying shame that boombox-type portable stereos like this Panasonic are getting harder and harder to find in the US. My very first one was a Panasonic which I purchased at Ellman's (remember them??) in the early 80's. It still plays, although it's the radio only. The o-ring belt on the cassette player finally gave out. With this purchase, I was surprised to see Panasonic still knows how to build a quality unit.
Summary: I choose this due to the reviews and have not been disappointed. While it is NOT up to my old Sony boombox that gave out after fifteen years, it is a very nice smaller boombox. Plays CDs with good sound (not great), radio picks up well which is difficult because I live in the mountains of Oregon, and the tape player is a good extra.
Be sure you reset the digital scanning to USA standard.

Summary: At first I wasn't so sure I had made the right decision. But after I read the manual about resetting the dial for 10 point steps on digital tuning rather than the 9 points that it came with, I was much happier. Also I needed to understand the remote control operation. Now I find it useful. I had been disappointed with Sony products in the past and felt more friendly with my Panasonic experiences.
Summary: First off let me say I spent nearly four hours thoroughly reviewing radios available for purchase online with all the bells and whistle inputs after being disappointed at what the big box stores had on their shelves. After testing the Panasonic RDX55, I am very pleased with what I got within a budget, and the positive reviews are accurate. The negative ones were not observed in my area. Read on if you'd like more details.
Summary: This is exactly what I've been looking for. Big, deep sound out of a neat little unit. Worth every penny. Pro tip: The US adapter seemed a little loose on the pronged plug. I used bit of electrical tape wound in an 'x' over the joint between them to tighten it up and ensure it won't wobble off.
