The series is great!
30 April 2011
Excerpt: As I said the series is informative and great, one of my favourite series ever! However, it is slightly let down by the video quality. The transfer from 1080i leaves a few problems on some footage. Audio is good but not great great. Extras are very limited. Worth the money though!
Excerpt: One of the best astronomy series since Carl Sagan's Cosmos in 1980. No one can replace Sagan but, Brian Cox does the BBC good. You can't go wrong with this series. My only problem is that it is too short at only 5 episodes. It looks great albeit a little bit of banding here and there. The sound in DTS HD Hi-Res does make some good use of the surrounds and the music is as inspiring as Brian's enthusiasm is infectuous.
Conclusion: I implore you, buy this blu-ray it will open your mind to the astonishing vastness of our solar system. Brain Cox speaks with such passion, and in such a way, that his intricate and scientific explainations become easy to understand and very easy to watch and most importantly never patronising.I truly believe everyone can gain something from watching this series.
Conclusion: I bought this a couple of days ago and have been watching them with a mate and watched one disc so far and it has been the most interesting and amazing two and a half hours I've watched on blu ray so far. The picture quality is outstanding and the way it is all broken down and described is brilliant I'm definitely getting Wonders of the Universe when it comes out at the start of April you won't be disappointed.
Conclusion: If you are interested enough to be looking at this page right now, just but it! It is fantastic for anyone who has an interest in astronomy, even if you don't this is visually stunning, buy it anyway. So many moments you take a step back and it takes your breath away. Wonderful.
Conclusion: An absolutely brilliant series, which you just have to see to understand how good it is. Amazingly shot, beautiful locations (he gets to go everywhere, it's so unfair!), great graphics, and the brilliant enthusiasm of the Prof himself!
Conclusion: I bought this being new to Star Gazing and having watched the BBC astronomy program at the beginning of the year (2011) which Brian Cox helped present. He describes and explains everything so a complete beginner can understand. I couldn't help but go "ohhhhhh" and "wow" throughout. I can't recommend this enough to a complete beginner and at the bargain price of 999 of our earth pennies it is worth errrrrrrrrr every penny.
Conclusion: Wow, I've always been fascinated by programme series of this nature, i've followed several series about our solar system & the universe over the years. I have to say this series has not only been the most inspiring or the most moving but also the most factual in terms of scientifically.
