What Doesn't Kill You

Margriet, videoland
22 June 2014

What Doesn't Kill You

Monique, videoland
24 March 2014

Excellent movie, severely underrated

csab, blu-ray.com
21 October 2011
  • Excerpt: I hadn't heard of this movie, but decided to pick it up as I enjoy a lot of the stuff that Mark Ruffalo has done. This film is very realistic for a gangster flick, obviously as it's based on a true story, but not as loosely as most such films are.

engrossing and well-made

Spaceygirl (melanie.diesel@bbraun.co.za), IMDb
25 April 2010
  • Summary: Well-made with engaging performances and a good script, 'What doesn't kill you' makes for an afternoons decent entertainment. Allegedly based on real-life events which is a scary thought that life can be so hard for some people.

" I'm tired of this nickle & dime shit! " ............................

Guydowood, blu-ray.com
5 April 2010
  • Excerpt: Every now and then a movie gets released and bypasses theatres or it gets a very limited release and ends up on the rental shelf. No word on how good or horrible it can be. Then for some you can look at the main cast and decide if it's worth your hard earned 2hrs of escape or pleasure depending on...

Heartfelt and Tough in equal doses

guiltron, IMDb
22 January 2010
  • Summary: This powerful true story is brought to life with great directing and the amazing acting of both Mark Ruffalo and Ethan Hawke. Everything in this film screams "real". Realism is the key as the film captures the story of two men trying to live their life with the 'cards they've been dealt'.

This is a very underrated film.

themightyredemption, IMDb
26 November 2009
  • Summary: This is a very underrated film. I think its a shame it never has gotten publicity. I randomly picked it up on the fly for free a local library on DVD and was amazed that I never even have heard of it. There are no gimmicks or high wire stunts this was true to life.

Deeply personal movie

rich_au_koch, IMDb
20 June 2009
  • Summary: The guys who made this movie sure have a lot of heart, the title says it all. A beautiful movie that holds at its centre a story of personal transformation. While Paulie (Hawke) tries to play the best hand with the cards he is given, Brian (Ruffalo) plays along, craps out and eventually learns a...

El Cucuy, blu-ray.com
13 May 2009
  • Excerpt: Movie - Ok so I never seen the Theater Preview for this film. I only seen this film being previewed on TV for it's Blu Ray launch. Let me tell this much. I had very high Hopes for this film. BUT! Oh Boy! this film was a disappointing failure. It failed all kinds of ways. The story was mediocre.

And yet another kids to criminals to wake up call movie

gradyharp, IMDb
7 May 2009
  • Summary: This film is yet another rehash of that glut of films about kids who begin lives of crime early on, go to jail, and come out either enlightened or unchanged. Set in South Boston, WHAT DOESN'T KILL YOU happens to star some fine actors in Mark Ruffalo, Ethan Hawke, and Amanda Peet, and their presence...
