Summary: Very faithful to the source material, and it works well. I do prefer the cuts without "The Black Freighter"; The Ultimate Cut suffers from those awkward cheap-looking animated insertions and just doesn't flow too well. A strong, serious, and adult superhero chronicle that sets itself apart from others in more ways than one. Zack Snyder really did a respectful job in bringing the graphic novel to life.
Excerpt: 'What happened to us?' a startled and confused Nite Owl II asks as he stands in the middle of the aftermath of the carnage that used to line the street. 'What happened to the American dream?' Blake only chuckles, his mocking smile peering out from under his mask. 'The American dream? It came true! You're looking at it.
Summary: In an alternative reality, America in 1985 is home to a group of former superheroes who have now moved on. But when one of their members is killed in suspicious circumstances, the group is drawn back together; what they uncover could change the course of history as they know it. For those how haven’t read it, ‘Watchmen’ is a fantastic graphic novel, the first I ever read.
Summary: ‘Watchmen’ is based on one of the most popular DC graphic novels of the eighties and it’s been kicking about in (film) production limbo practically ever since. Many people have even gone as far as to call it ‘unfilmable.’ Therefore, many of its die-hard fans were sceptical when Zack Snyder took on the job of bringing it to the big screen. The result: a faithful adaptation and – in my opinion – a good one.
Summary: I watched this film for the first time and I was blown away by visual effects Zack Snyder and his team provide this film with and the powerful characters in this film. The story is very kool and it takes a lot of paying attention to get it. If you loved The Dark Knight then you may just like this!
Pros: Awesome, Engaging Characters, Entertaining, Excellent Special Effects, Great Cinematography, High Production Value, Talented Acting, Underrated
Summary: I really like Zack Snyder so I've been wanting to see this for years. I might have been expecting a little more, but Watchmen does not disappoint at all. It's not even close to being perfect, but it certainly has MANY good things going for it...
Summary: This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was a very disappointing book-to-film portrayal. Not only do they include the only stupid element from the book (Jon's ability to see into the future which I fully expected them to keep) but they also changed some things for the worst.
Excerpt: This is a review written within the larger perspective of the mythos of the Watchmen universe. On the surface, Watchmen is a visually-arresting, thrilling, and strikingly unique super hero film. Until you read the graphic novel source material and realize how vacantly short the film adaptation falls in terms of tone and theme. Watchmen nails a lot of the visuals and Zack Snyder has a kinetic way of choreographing action powerfully.
Summary: This film was brilliant. The development of each character was superbly detailed and according to my brother - who saw it in the cinema first - the deleted scenes fit in really well (if making it a bit longer. The story was told very stylishly and made perfect sense unless you have the attention span of a goldfish and I speak as a man who has never laid eyes on a watchmen graphic novel.
