Watchmen

  • Excerpt: Zack Snyder's attempt at being faithful to Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' vision is ultimately the film's biggest fault since it makes the flaws in the original source material far more obvious.

Watchmen

ComingSoon
14 February 2010
  • Excerpt: Super heroes are real. That's how it begins. Real people, with real problems (and strengths) who decided to put on costumes and fight crime. But where most super hero stories try to stay as far away from the real world as possible (Superman can never end world hunger because then the fantasy would become too removed from the real world), "Watchmen" tries to imagine how they would affect ever aspect of life. They fight in Vietnam for the U.S.

Watchmen Blu-ray Review

blu-ray.com
11 November 2009
  • Summary: With Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut , director Zack Snyder -- whether by his hand or Warner's -- joins a shrewd and saavy brotherhood of filmmakers notorious for milking their fanbases. George Lucas has kept his far-far-away faithful eating out of his palm for decades; ever upgrading, ever adding the same movies to their collections again and again.

Watchmen: Director's Cut

High-Def Digest
17 July 2009
  • Conclusion: After twenty years of hardcore fans hearing that the 'Watchmen' comics are "unfilmable", Zack Snyder defies logic and gives audiences the closest we'll ever come to experiencing the novel on film. In the 'Watchmen: Director's Cut', Snyder is allowed to flesh out the details better and create a smoother narrative flow, offering an improved vision of this alternate reality.

Watchmen Review -1-

The 8th Circuit
6 March 2009
  • Excerpt: [editor's note: due to the huge anticipation of the film adaptation of Watchmen, we have had 2 reviewers do separate reviews for the movie, part two can be found here ] Watchmen has long been anticipated by us here at the 8th . Hell, at least two of our writers (including myself) went to the midnight screening. So, was the movie worth the wait, did it live up to the fame and hype of the graphic novel, or did it flounder and ruin everything that the comic stood for?

Watchmen

Cinema Blend
6 March 2009
  • Excerpt: To me it wouldn’t have mattered if it were bad or good. More important in a Watchmen movie is that it’s ambitious. That it tries to say something, to be something, even if it implodes amidst the struggle to achieve it. Better a spectacular failure than miserable, lukewarm mediocrity. Alan Moore’s amazing comic deserves, and gets better than tepid tap water dripped out of Hollywood’s rusty faucet.
