Summary: Easily the one of the most satisfying films of 2011 as well as one of the best. Joel Edgerton, Tom Hardy, and Nick Nolte are terrific; all three give some of the best performances of 11. An emotional powerhouse that features some brilliant drama sequences that make the film one of the most touching and realistic I've seen in awhile.
Summary: I am shocked by the lack of praise this movie has received. I went into it expecting it to be good, and was delivered a masterpiece. This film was intense, amazing, core-rattling throughout. The best sports movie of all time, in my book.
Summary: After hating every single MMA movie I ever watched except for 1 & learning this was gonna be a brother fighting brother to be #1, I expected to hate Warrior as well so I was suprised that It was a pretty good flick. The storyline was interesting & wasn't boring like I thought it was gonna be.I also love how the brothers stories were told seperately, Eventually meeting up in the middle & then everything coming together at the fight in the end.Good Stuff
Summary: A nice sport drama that manages to throw just about everything at you: family drama, financial trouble, military trouble, alcoholism - it sounds like a lot, but miraculously it works. A bit too much Rocky vibe for my taste, but overall worth a watch.
Excerpt: Warrior is film that grips the viewer from start until finish and does not let go. Some may accuse it of being formulaic, but it is a great story that stands up on its own. It is like a modern day version of Rocky, bringing contemporary issues to the fore. Warrior contains two parallel stories that collide near the end in an epic encounter, each one both heartbreaking and inspiring. Tommy Riordan (Tom Hardy) is a U.S. Marine who has recently returned from Iraq.
Summary: Was hinted on to this flick by a FB buddy of mine(Thanks Ryan) How it slipped under my radar is beyond me? Stellar cast has two brothers Brendan ( Joel Edgerton ) and Tom (Tom Hardy) Conlon both with their own skeletons in their closets concerning their former alcoholic father (played brillaintly by Nick Nolte) Different personal conflicts draw both brothers to the same UFC tournament where the winner takes home a cool 5 million dollars.
Excerpt: So, talk about going into a movie with low expectatons. I thought this would be one of the worst movies that I've ever seen. In fact, it's not. It was entertaining. Very, Very predictable, but entertaining none-the-less. Again prior to seeing this movie, I thought I'd be giving it 1 star, then afterwards, when I had all of that adrenaline running from the fights, I thought, this is at least a 3 star film, but now that I've had time to think about it, it's getting 2.5.
Excerpt: Two brothers competing against each other - Check A father torn between his two sons at odds with each other - Check Alcoholic trying to redeem himself and win his family's respect back - Check Underdog trying to save his house and family, dreams of winning championship prize money - Check On the surface, Warrior is about MMA and UFC fighting, but this takes a back seat to the gritty emotion of the dysfunctional relationship between father-sons and brother-brother.
Excerpt: Tom Conlon returns home and joins a mixed martial arts event, approaches his father to train him. Brendan Conlon is a physics high school teacher who, when his mortgages stumblr, forced to get back on the world of MMA. These two brothers will fight for reasons. *** Wow! Didn't expect this could be this good. Very good family story, and amazing action. Very moving and touching.
