Up

BluRay Authority
18 October 2013
  • Excerpt: With every new entry into Disney’s Pixar line of films, I’d imagine that the bar is getting pretty high. Let’s face it, these movies haven’t exactly been failures at the box office and have enjoyed as much critical acclaim as commercial appeal. What began in 1995 with “Toy Story” has turned into one of the sheer delights of watching animation. And it’s with this latest offering, “Up”, that shows the Pixar juggernaut shows no signs of slowing down. That’s good.

  • Excerpt: I can totally see where this came from. Someone somewhere had an idea for an illustration of a house suspended by balloons. You never know what you're going to get with that sort of thing, if people will be content to sit on the laurels and bask in the concept by itself, or actually go to the effort of working out a compelling story to go with it. Luckily for everyone, the folks at Pixar aren't known for taking the easy way out and they haven't here.

Up

Sound & Vision Magazine
29 May 2013
  • Excerpt: Featuring an old codger as an unlikely leading man, Up is a delight from its bittersweet beginning to its action-packed conclusion. The movie clearly received inspiration from at least one classic Looney Tunes cartoon. If Dug’s vocal inflections sound strangely familiar, they should. They’re reminiscent of the character Benny from 1952’s Hoppy-Go-Lucky.

Up 3D (Blu-ray)

DVD Verdict
26 May 2013
  • Excerpt: I don't know what's in the air or the water up in Emeryville, CA, but whatever it is inspires some of the greatest filmmaking the world has ever known. Pixar somehow taps into the universal truth of the human experience and delivers an adventure in Up so sweeping and emotionally charged that even WALL-E would shed a tear. Meet Carl and Ellie, two kids whose imaginations and lust for life are larger than all outdoors.

UP

Family Friendly Gaming
2 February 2013
  • Excerpt: I have paid attention to Disney Pixar for years now. The majority of their franchises have been very well received. So I was interested in seeing what UP was like, and about. The story follows a boy (Carl) who meets a girl. They are both into adventure. They wind up getting married, but not able to have kids. They grow old together, and she winds up dying. He is all alone in the house while developers are reworking the entire neighborhood around his house.

Up 3D Blu-ray Review

blu-ray.com
23 November 2012
  • Summary: I'm not ashamed to admit that Up wrecked me. It didn't earn a man-tear. It didn't make my lip quiver. It didn't assault me with warm fuzzies. No, dear readers, it viciously, strategically and masterfully wrecked me. It's not often that I'm reduced to a pile of thirtysomething tears and sobering sniffles, but Pixar mainstays Pete Docter and Bob Peterson have created such a touching tale, such a rousing adventure, such a gorgeous masterpiece that I remain completely...

UP - 3D Blu-ray review

moviemet.com
1 November 2010
  • Conclusion: As corny as it sounds, "Up" soars to new animation heights, and this new 3D Blu-ray combo pack offers two spectacular ways to watch the film. It's one of this year's top 3D releases.
