  • Summary: The result is a very different kind of Universal Soldier movie, but one that at least has the balls to try something new. It may not always be successful, but in an age when filmmakers seem happy to churn out the same movie over-and-over again, credit should go to Hyams for mixing up the tried-and-tested formula. And with the film's finale somewhat open-ended, here's hoping he gets the opportunity to further explore the Unisol universe.

Universal Terminators is more like it.....

  • Excerpt: The Universal Soldier franchise has come a long way since it's debut 20 years ago with the original. 2 made for TV sequels that got ignored when Van Damme came back for the offical "The Return" sequel which was a total bore. then director John Hymms re-teamed Van Damme along with Dolph Lundgren in some important cameo's for 2009's "Regeneration" which brought some high-octane fun into the mix.

Cool action scenes but confusing plot

Evil, blu-ray.com

  • Excerpt: There are some really cool action/fighting scenes in this movie but I found the plot to be more and more confusing as things progressed. In addition, although Van Damme and Lundgren are featured prominently on the cover art, their roles in the actual film are somewhat minimal. The PQ and AQ are both very good. The extras include three 'making of' featurettes which together run for nearly an hour and a half.

  • Summary: The story makes little sense and most scenes are just action cliche. The fights, however, are brutal and entertaining. Some of the camera effects are creative, but the couple of 'strobe-light' moments almost gave me a headache. The badass finale kind of makes it worth a watch.

Great blu!

  • Excerpt: This entry in the franchise definitely isn't for everyone. I for one, like that John Hyams took the franchise in a new direction. This is along the lines of a horror/noir in the style of a David Lynch movie. As long as you don't expect a typical Unisol film, fans of the genre should be pleased. VERY VIOLENT! Sucks that the US didn't get the Uncut version because that one is even more insane. PQ looks great...very crisp and clean. The sound is very even too.

"..VERY COOL ACTION MOVIE.."

25 April 2013
  • Conclusion: Forget the last sequel because this does not continue from that at all, this movie disconnects itself from the last movies and stands alone in a parallel timeline, Van Damme's character is now the villain as his programming has gone AWOL (Excuse the pun) and he is leading a group of UNISOLS (including lundgren) towards the day of reckoning (as in the title) which sees UNISOLS thinking for themselves and taking over humanity, but they never counted on John (Scott Adkins)...

  • Conclusion: More violencw and gore than any other Uni Sol movie - van damme is gr8 as the villain this time round his performance has been compared to marlon brando in apocalypase now - scott adkins is the main lead who has appeared in a few van damme movies over the years the shepherd, assassination games, expendables 2 - dolph lundgren is gr8 in this and andrei arlivski returns too - this is the darkest of all the uni sol movies enjoy!!!

  • Summary: Alldeles för rå och brutal och fram för allt sinnessjuk, sjuk, rå och brutal på en oönskad nivå. Man kunde nästan ta filmen som värsta skräckfilmen! Filmen föll mig inte i smaken!
