Excerpt: A fourteen year old girl employs the talents of a grizzled old US Marshall to track her father's killer. The Coen brother's re-imagining of John Wayne's western classic is actually not as different from the original as you'd expect.
Summary: Mattie (Kim Darby) travels to Fort Smith to hire U.S. Marshal Reuben "Rooster" J. Cogburn (John Wayne) to avenge her father’s murder. Some of the background characters and unnecessary scenes kept the picture somewhat lengthy. Action sequences, score and cinematography were wonderful.
Summary: The Coen Brothers did it again, they remade an old John Wayne movie and did a great job at it. The violence wasn't too bad, it was just right and Jeff Bridges who plays Rooster Cogburn did the best acting job I have seen in a very long time in modern day movies.
Excerpt: A prim young woman enlists the aid of a crotchety old US marshal to track down the outlaw who killed her father. This characterful western from the old school has had a lot of plaudits, but to me it's not much different from many other of Wayne's outings.
