  • Excerpt: It's time for Andy Davis to head off to college, leaving his beloved toys unsure about their future. Cowboy Woody (voiced by Tom Hanks) thinks they should try to stay at the house in the attic, but the others like the idea of being donated for other kids to play with them. Once they arrive at Sunnyside Day Care, it seems like a paradise for toys, but they soon learn things aren't what they seem, as the place is being run by a despotic warden who won't let the toys leave...

  • Excerpt: Andy is preparing to depart for college, leaving his loyal toys troubled about their uncertain future. When a mix-up lands them at Sunnyside Daycare, the untamed tots with their sticky little fingers do not play nice, so it’s all for one and one for all as plans for the great escape get underway. More than a few new faces – some plastic, some plush – join the adventure, including Barbie’s counterpart, Ken, a thespian hedgehog named Mr.

Toy Story 3 3D Blu-ray Review

  • Summary: It's strange: with each passing Pixar release, I walk into the theater without trepidation or expectation. Deep down, I know whatever I'm about to watch will be amazing. Even the studio's worst stands shoulder to shoulder with other animation studios' best. (Point to A Bug's Life and Cars , ye cantankerous cynics. Both films only suffer by comparison to their greater Pixar brethren.) Even deeper down, I squash any and every expectation that begins to take form.

  • Excerpt: Back in 1999, Movieline ran a piece called "100 Questions We Honestly Want to Ask Hollywood," and one line from it has always stuck with me: "How come Mike Figgis can do Leaving Las Vegas and then go back to being Mike Figgis?" It's memorable not only because it applies to Figgis (ever sat through The Loss of Sexual Innocence?

  • Excerpt: Tom Tykwer’s 3 is a simple story told in a complicated way. At its heart, it’s little more than a boy-meets-girl (and-also-other-boy) tale. But writer-director Tykwer complicates the issue greatly, as if to point out how people similarly complicate their own love lives with a lot of extraneous intellectualizing.

  • Excerpt: Pixar is living proof that if you get a bunch of creative folks together, you’re passionate about what you do and have a little financial backing from Steve Jobs that you can make anything entertaining. “Toy Story” burst on the scene some fifteen years ago and changed the face of animation in the process.

Toy Story 3 (Blu-ray)

  • Summary: Sequels, as I’ve said here many times, are very risky business. But when you put the kind of passion and care into every frame you produce like the Pixar folks always do, it’s magic every time. The audiences aren’t getting smaller. They are getting larger. This one pulled in over a billion dollars at the box office. By the way, that’s double what the previous film brought in. With Pixar now about to extend both the Cars and Monsters, Inc .
