Excerpt: The movie itself is very well done and put together, and this was a Christmas gift VIDEO: Total Recall looks fantastic on Blu-ray. The only minor problem is some print damage here and there, some scenes look EXCELLENT AUDIO: Very good and it sounds great EXTRAS: The Restoration Comparison was a pretty cool watch, I gotta get to the others though OVERALL: I don't have the original 2006 blu-ray, but if you have that or you don't own the film yet, the Mind-Bending edition...
Excerpt: I don't know why they release movies "remastered in 4k" when the movie was mastered and finished in 2k, there is virtually no difference in picture quality here, apart from a slight bit of aliasing in a few scenes on the 4k version because of artificial sharpening, and you have to flick between the same two frames on both versions to see it as its so small.
Excerpt: I'm not going to go into the plot of this movie as chances are you've probably already seen it by now to make up your mind if you want to purchase this movie or not. Is it worth the upgrade? Let me get this out straight from the start, don't be fooled by the high video & audio score that I have given this 4k remaster of Total Recall.
Excerpt: With the new remake of Total Recall now out on video, here’s my delayed review of the original, cheesy sci-fi classic that superior from the remake in many ways. The remake has some merits in its impressively staged and stunning action sequences, some performances that best their original takes and enough excellent visual effects that make Verhoeven’s original look ridiculously outdated today. But the remake is lost in a sea of generic action movies.
Excerpt: Synopsis: Disturbed by dreams of pursuit and death, a factory worker in a dystopian future visits a clinic to have more-pleasant memories implanted...only to have his dreams of pursuit and death become a hectic and complicated reality as his previous, suppressed life - as a leader of an insurgency movement - abruptly resurfaces.
Excerpt: the movie was very good ,will watch again when audio drop outs fixed. i have the oppo bdp93 and from start to finish audio drop outs about every 10 mins or so lip sync also a problem, i read others saying turn to pcm to solve problem BUT why should i do that its dolby true hd thats what i paid for.
Excerpt: I think that I had a major advantage over many of the people that saw this movie, and that is that I had forgotten most of the old Total recall. I am also capable of keeping an open mind when I see a movie no matter the hype around it. The only thing I expecteded was an action movie, and that is what I got when I saw it at the cinema. Superb visual effects and good acting performances, and a couple of well timed plot twists along the way.
Excerpt: Like most reviews out there....Sony's Dolby TrueHD track is flawed...major drop outs and lip sync issues with multiple players/amps, but switch to PCM and all works. Once Sony issues a fixed version then perhaps the audio will get a higher score. Loved the move otherwise! Great special effects, killer action and near reference quality with the exception of some images looking softer in places.
Excerpt: Most remakes are made to modernize an older movie and make more money for the studios; the remake to Total Recall is no exception. The remake neither butchered nor bested Paul Verhoeven’s celebrated 1990 sci- fi/thriller original. Sadly, there is nothing original about the Total Recall remake (feel the irony when you see that the remake was produced by Original Film studios).
Excerpt: Didnt hear good things about movie before buying, matter of fact NOTHING GREAT,so i picked it up anyway on steelbook, i am NOT DISAPPOINTED with this blu ray buy....i was VERY ENTERTAINED and i like how IT made references to the ORIGINAL in a few scenes, the orginal TR will always be a classic in my world, but this new/remake version aint bad, nope, aint bad at all...city FX are OUTSTANDING!!!! NICE JOB and GOOD transfer SONY!
