Marmite love or hate

22 November 2013
  • Summary: Hmm. Humour a little too basic for me,spent more time cringing than finding it funny. Found it a little tiresome that it seemed to be minchin the musical, far too much singing. Have seen enough, wont be renting anything by this gentleman again.

  • Summary: I've seen MINCHIN's previous DVD and the odd appearance here and there on stuff. He's quirky, original and seems to be a thoroughly nice bloke. But . . . this show contained several 'greatest hits' rather than all new material, and became a bit of a chore to watch for the last half hour or so. I saw it through to the end out of a sense of duty rather than desire. Once seen, best remembered, rather than revisited?

Fast, funny and clever with it!

  • Summary: This was absolutely hilarious. In the extras on this was the Jonathan Ross show where I first saw Tim Minchin, and I thought at the time, 'keep an eye out for this guy he's gonna be big'. I saw his Comedy Proms, and was hooked. This show proved I was right. It's fast, it's clever, it's topical and it's funny as hell. He has no boundaries, and no shame, which makes it even funnier. Definitely check out the extras, The Pope Song is an earworm, but a must!

  • Summary: I'd seen a few clips of Tim Minchin before, but I hadn't watched any of his shows until I saw Ready For This. I was delighted with the show; Minchin is witty, cheeky, energetic and very creative. His killer combo of comedy and music is very effective and I really loved the show. Tim Minchin has strong opinions and he is not afraid to share them, so the easily offended should approach this show with caution. Do approach it though, because it just might broaden your mind.
