Excerpt: Of all the pre-Avengers films that Marvel released, this was probably the most likely to fail, given the otherworldly nature and seeming indestructible nature of the protagonist which differed from the other Earthbound heroes on the mix. But it is great fun, the key to the film being Hemsworth's perfomance as Thor and the humour derived from the "fish-out-of-water" plot that helps to make Thor much more endearing and likeable than he should be given his arrogance.
Excerpt: The son of Odin is banished to Earth after provoking war with a neighbouring realm and finds he must prove himself worthy in order to return to Asgard to prevent his brother from usurping their father and claiming the crown for himself. The Iron Man franchise, together with Avengers Assemble have proven that Marvel comics can provide a platform for some highly entertaining cinema that can appeal to a wide age range.
Excerpt: Thor is one of my favorite Marvel movies. I went into it not expecting that much, but was completely blown away by it. The story was great, the acting was great, the visuals were great. Everything I ever hope for in an action movie. Video and audio quality are great here, and will definitely make great use of your TV and Surround Sound, but I was highly disappointed in its 3D conversion. This is in my opinion one of the worst conversions to date.
Excerpt: This was a blind buy for me after loving The Avengers and seeing this on Black Friday for about $9. Not being a comic book fan I loved The Avengers but only knew about half the characters. Now I know the back story to Thor and his brother and caught a glimpse of the archery guy. I probably should have seen this first, next I am watching Captain America. Funny was seeing Stan Lee as the truck driver.
Big Sights and Sounds. It's starts off Thor character with a BANG!

Excerpt: What to say? Well, this has to be one of the marvel characters that I never thought would come to the screen all so well; the over-the-top costumes, settings and action. I just didn't seem grounded enough for me, but thanks to a decent direction by Kenneth Branagh, it settles between the ridiculous and real while being big, flashy, fun entertainment. The story and plot is probably the weakest aspect of the movie.
