Summary: Saw this at the cinema & I agree that de Caprio comes across as very smug & typically unlikeable - BUT isn't that the character he is portraying. (Actually none of the characters are likeable - they are all pretty shallow). I also thought it was unnecessarily long & that the scenes of debauchery could have been a bit less frequent. Overall, it was a good story & all the more incredible for being based on a true story.
Summary: The same as everyone else asks - why can't I reserve it ready for when it is released. I understand you may not be allowed to release it for some time, but why can't I put it on my reserve list? I have to write down the names of half the films I would like to rent and keep coming back to check whether they are yet available to rent.
Summary: I think that people who in particular work in financial services will really enjoy this film. Its a stand out film such as American Psycho and Wall Street. In my view, its probably better than both those movies. My one criticism, watching this movie in the cinema, is at three hours, it does feel like three hours. Watching, 'The Wolf Of Wall Street,' you really do think to yourself, did all this happen?! Di Caprio and Hill in particular, are amazing.
Summary: Leonardo DiCaprio played his part well and there were funny moments, however the film is not a patch on earlier Scorsese classics. A few of the scenes of excess could have been missed out. It was more like a soft porn movie, with the actresses being treated like sex objects. Surprisingly poor for Scorsese.
Excerpt: A dark comedy on Wall Street players instead of the usual gangsters. It starts of slow then picks up in the middle and just fizzles towards the end. Jordan Belfort's character reminded me of Tony Montana from Scarface. Everything in excess and coupled with a funny right hand man. The cast shines and Leonardo DiCaprio was spectacular in all aspects.
Summary: I'm still not sure whether I like this movie or not, it was just so ridiculous, but I guess that was the point...It did make me laugh quite a few times but the main characters are so unlikable that by the end of it you just want to see them all get put in jail.
Summary: As previous - why not available to rent .... the love film service is getting worse. Why don't they have all the popular films in the UK as well as USA. Seem to cater more for the American market than us Brits.
Excerpt: The Wolf of Wall Street doesn't beat around the bush. It really doesn't. If there is one thing I hate in a biopic, it's when the director or production team choose sides with the main character, whether it be a good or bad or normal one or whatever. Trying to show something exactly as it happened without leaning a little one way or another is very difficult, I understand that, but when the right people with the right goals are put on the right projects, this film...
