The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Fourth Season

High-Def Digest
2 October 2013
  • Conclusion: By now, you know if you like 'Vampire Diaries' or not. This melodramatic vampire soap opera is hilariously overdone. There isn't one part of the show that you can actually take seriously. At times the series seems like it's poking fun at itself (which is admirable), and other times it feels like it takes itself deadly serious (which is irritating). The video and audio are comparable to seasons past. The fourth season of 'Vampire Diaries' is for fans only.

  • Excerpt: F air W arning ! Stop if you haven't finished watching season three quite yet. There are a bunch of different ways you could describe Elena Gilbert. Loyal. Determined. Courageous. Alive , and that's saying something considering the circles she runs in over in Mystic Falls. You'll [click on the thumbnail to enlarge] have to scratch that last one off your shortlist, though. As the third season of The Vampire Diaries came to a close, Elena died.

The Vampire Diaries: The Complete Fourth Season Blu-ray Review

7 September 2013
  • Summary: The Vampire Diaries might just be the oddest, most unexpected Comic-Con star since television networks began storming the halls of San Diego. A teen soap above all else, the series doesn't exactly scream fanboy or horror hound. It's an unmistakably popular guilty pleasure among the young college masses, yes, but that doesn't typically translate into enviable con cred. At best, it's divisive, low-hanging fruit.
