The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1

ComingSoon
17 October 2013
  • Excerpt: There's no question that a successful franchise has to be made for its fans first. Dance with the ones that brung you and all of that. If you've got your finger right on their pulse you can do that theoretically forever, just ask the Broccoli family. But a good franchise tries to keep everyone else in mind, too. That's the divider between the men and the boys and no matter how well it does, "The Twilight Saga" just isn't in the big leagues.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1

High-Def Digest

  • Conclusion: Without a doubt, one of the worst movies of 2011, as well as the worst entry in the entire franchise, 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1' is a terribly hammy display of unchecked teenage hormones, trying its darnedest to be taken as a serious romantic drama. If you enjoy screeching, yelling, and other public displays of shameless histrionics, then this is the movie for you!

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 Blu-ray Review

blu-ray.com
11 February 2012
  • Summary: You deserve to live with this. The latest Twilight movie is one of big happenings that come slowly at first and with rapid-fire intensity late. The movie slow-brews its first half and explodes with endless jolts of energy in its second as all of the previous story lines come to a head, are spun around, and are reframed in a completely new perspective with the movie's final shot promising a whole new ballgame in the coup de grâce that's to come.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1

Cinema Blend
18 November 2011
  • Excerpt: For all the marketing and hype around the laboriously titled The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn- Part 1 , there is one key element that has remained a mystery. We see hints of it as Bella (Kristen Stewart) prepares for her wedding day in the company of her future sisters in law (Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed) and her mother (Sarah Clarke), and then as she walks down the aisle arm in arm with her father (Billy Burke)-- a hem here, a bit of satin there, enough to know that her...

  • Summary: Artless and awkward, yet strangely satisfying — both for those who buy into the world of "Twilight", and those who just want to snigger.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn—Part 1

AV Club
17 November 2011
  • Excerpt: As we reach the penultimate installment of Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight saga, it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on how spectacularly around the bend this popular supernatural psychomelodrama has gone. In Breaking Dawn—Part 1 , assorted characters fall in love with a newborn, jaunt off to private islands they happen to own off the coast of Brazil, get volume boosts to their hair thanks to becoming undead, lose their virginity in a life-threatening fashion, and...

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1

Flicks
25 April 2012
  • Summary: Aside from the fact that the fourth instalment in the Twilight film series sounds like a description of flatulence, Breaking Dawn is the worst Twilight film to date. The story is weak, the script embarrassing and the action, when there is any, completely silly. Twilight has never been the most high-brow phenomenon but what the first three films had in spades – erotic tension – falls as limp as a cold vampire appendage.
