Excerpt: A ground breaking action classic and a smartly written story. The Terminator has had a major impact with the audience and was selected for preservation. At the very least it put Arnold Schwarzenegger on the A-list in Hollywood and was a breakthrough for director James Cameron. I won't go into plot details but I've always considered T2 as totally superior and while it is still my favorite in the series, the original is started to catch up.
Summary: A human and a cyborg are sent from the future, one to protect the mother of a boy who will someday be needed to save the world, and one to kill her. This movie was okay and I know a lot of people like this film and I can say the movie as good score and CGI.
Excerpt: Probably Cameron's most efficient film, and certainly one of his best. The initial setup leads to a tense confrontation at a nightclub, and thereafter the film moves at breakneck speed. Whilst Schwarzenegger was born to play the title character, it's interesting watching Linda Hamilton develop from a seemingly timid and scared heroine into the more determined fighter that will dominate the sequel.
Excerpt: PQ - Although this release is pretty dang weak when it comes to extras, The Terminator has finally received the treatment it deserves on blu-ray (or any other format). I have NEVER seen this film look this good, even when I saw it back in '84. Some will argue that there is a teal push going on in the image, but to my eyes the movie's colors look the same as they always have.
Excerpt: I always loved this film but the remaster seemed even better. I think there were many added scenes or maybe I just didn't remember all of 'em. Very well done and as far as the sound goes, I am waiting for the rest of system to arrive so I can't give a reasonable opinion. Ovwerall, a very good film that I figured I should get back to since Arnold is going to go back for another one coming. Hold on everybody.
Excerpt: I remember seeing this film a lot when I was younger, on cable and on a bootleg VHS tape. Eventually I would acquire a special edition box set with a holographic cover that came with both this film and the second one in wide screen, a booklet and a third tape with supplement extras including the making of Terminator: A Retrospective, which is included on this disc.
Excerpt: The movie's a classic nuff said. I remember people questioning and/or complaining about the teal/metallic colors of the night scenes. Fact is I don't think The Terminator has looked this good since it came out in the theaters and from what I understand the nighttime color schemes were as intended by the DP and Cameron. I really don't think there's much room if any for complaints. Kinda wish all action films from the 80s etc looked like this. Audio was great as well.
Excerpt: "The Terminator" was a "game-changer" back in '84 (when I was born) and it has aged quite well. The screenplay is great and the principles are very convincing. I was happy to watch it again after so many years. The video quality is excellent. I'm guessing this film looks better than it did when it was projected in theaters so many years ago. I was very happy to see this newly remastered picture. The sound is also very good. The music and effects sounded great.
