Summary: i thought that the movie was well acted, and it had something going for it. i was hoping the tone would step up a little. i didn't have fun watching this movie. however much i agree with everyone with everyone who gave this movie an 8 or a 9, i guess i was just hoping to see another movie. wow.
Summary: Viggo Mortensen (who also starred in The Lord of the Rings movies) gives a fine performance in this movie. This story is set in a world after some obvious disaster has happened. We are never told what happened to destroy society, but it must have been recent.
Excerpt: i didn't know what to expect going into this movie, i haven't really seen a lot of trailers and it wasn't in theaters for more then a few weeks, so basically Ive been hearing about the road through word of mouth.
Excerpt: Wow this film is almost perfect. Driven with a lot of emotion and deep thinking. I really like how the movie delivered, it was really deep. On a second note i dont think is was better than the hurt locker overall but the emotional part surpassed the hurt locker by a mile.
Excerpt: There is not a lot of cheerful moments in this film, which is not necessarily a bad thing. Set in a post-apocalyptic future we don't get much details about, the film is at it's core about the relationship between a father and his young son.
Excerpt: The Road is a terrific translation of the book and is far more gripping and emotional than "No Country For Old Men" (another terrific Cormac MacCarthy book to film that may have been as much overhyped as this one is underhyped).
Excerpt: This is truly a great story of a father and son and their struggle to survive. I highly reccomend this movie but prepare yourself on having to turn up the center speaker because some of the dialog is very soft. If you can handle doing that, then you will be in for a real treat.
Excerpt: For a blind purchase you may be a bit disappointed with the results. So rent it first and decide for yourself if it is worthy of a spot in your collection. The Road is a look into a future of 'darkness' and a father & son trying to survive after a fall-out of some kind.
Excerpt: Im not going to go on a lengthy review of this movie but I certainly don't think Bombermusician gave this movie a fair review. Had he read the book he wouldn't of had to try and figure things out. The movie and book clearly inform you that the story is post-apocalyptic(sp).
Excerpt: And that is saying quite a lot coming from a fan of the book. Viggo was amazing as always and the kid was not half bad either. If you're looking for an action movie look elsewehere. I am amazed that someone gave it such a low rating though, there was nothing not to like about this movie.
