Streep gives her best Deliverance......

Guydowood, blu-ray.com
30 January 2012
  • Excerpt: Remove the hillbilly aspect from the plot, omit the squeal like a pig scene, make the lead character a woman and toss in a father and his child then you get The River Wild. A paint by the numbers adventure of a family vacation gone to hell as Kevin Bacon and John C. Riley take Meryl Streep and David Straithhern on one crazy ride down the river of rapids and tense terror. A left field type of genre movie that Steep takes in stride and makes it believable and a fun watch.

A different side of Meryl

ganlie, blu-ray.com
9 December 2011
  • Excerpt: I might be biased when it comes to Meryl Streep because I think she is one of the greatest artists of all time. This is a movie that will completely change people's perception about Meryl. I remembered reading the review when the movie first came out on how Meryl (as usual --- always overly prepared for her role) trained to prepare for her role as a mother who used to be a whitewater guide when she was young.

A classic 90's thrill ride

Darrabban, blu-ray.com
8 March 2011
  • Excerpt: I've been a fan of this movie ever since I first saw it more than 15 years ago now. And now when I revisited it on Blu-ray, I'm surprised it held so well. Sure, it's not a masterpiece by any standards - but honestly that doesn't matter simply because they don't make movies like this anymore. It's almost old fashion adventure for whole family with thriller elements thrown in the mix.
