The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Blu-ray Review
17 June 2011
Summary: Much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it. It began with the forging of the Great Rings... In 1957, Morton Grady Zimmerman tried his hand at adapting J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" for the silver screen. But Tolkien, despite his satisfaction with early concept art and designwork, was furious with Zimmerman's script.
Conclusion: 'The Fellowship of the Rings' sure did create a firestorm when released in the trilogy box set, and it seems the whole idea of a "remaster" is lost on New Line/Warner Bros. It's not like the film hasn't made a bajillion dollars for them by now. All that negative publicity should have been some kind of hint. A recycled disc, which is dramatically lower in video quality compared to its brethren.
The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring (Blu-ray Review)
26 September 2010
Conclusion: I cannot recommend this movie enough. While I prefer the Extended Editions of each of the movies, the theatrical editions are also excellent and I know a lot of people prefer them due to their shortened length. Although the video quality could be better, the audio on this disc is exemplary although the special features are somewhat disappointing.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Movie Review
2 May 2005
Summary: J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy phenomenon is finally given the beautiful, epic, reverent treatment that it deserves by director/co-adapter/Hobbit-phile Peter Jackson. Jackson's love for the material both helps the film and also weighs it down. Purists may balk, but Jackson's labor of love is quite an achievement.
