Summary: The Holiday really is a little gem of a movie. Stella roles from Kate, Cameron, Judd and Jack of course but, for me, Eli Wallach almost steals the show. Even after so many years in the business, what a fantastic character actor he is - it'll be interesting to see how many of the other cast members are still this good when they're in their 90s. That aside, even though Christmas isn't the main theme, it's a lovely story that's full of hope and festive cheer.
Summary: The Holiday is a real feel good movie. Love the cottage in the film, very romantic looking and sucks you into the whole romantic theme of the film. The whole story line is centered around a couple of jilted women trying to move on from their failed relationships. Even my husband liked this movie and he normally watches rock music DVD's!
Conclusion: Not going to win any award but an enjoyable film non the less with a strong cast. Yes its predictable. yes it cheesy, but by usual romcom/chick flick standards its watchable from a male perspective. Given it is set around Christmas it is a good one enjoy with your other half at that time of year without getting bored. The California/England dual location also makes it a good balance during the winter months.
