Great

  • Excerpt: I cannot for the life of me understand why I have never seen this film. I'm a huge Halloween/Escape From New York/The Thing fan, but this one always flew under the radar. So, I did a blind buy of the Shout Factory disc and I can enthusiastically recommend this movie. I absolutely loved the cinematography and locations of the film. The sequence where Barbeau drives to the lighthouse and walks down the long staircase are fabulous.

Thank you Dean Cundy for doing the bluray restoration!

  • Excerpt: I just watched the fog and here is the truth. thank god Dean Cundy did the restoration because this transfer blows away the special edition DVD that MGM released over 10 years ago! there is no way scream factory would of done this good of a job if Dean Cundy did not step in and say either i do the restoration or forget about releasing it on bluray.I really think Dean Cundy saw the Halloween 3 bluray and was horrified by the excessive use of Digital noise reduction and...

An Underrated Classic

  • Excerpt: First off, I haven't seen The Fog since the days of VHS/Betamax, and I never saw it in the theater. Second, I don't watch my blu-ray movies hunting for problems. I watch them to enjoy them. If something jumps out at me that sucks or looks awesome, then my brain disengages from the film all on its own to notice the difference. That said, I had a good time revisiting this film and never once was pulled out of it for audio or video issues.

  • Excerpt: Wat een prachtig verhaal. IJzingwekkend.

The Fog

Filmrating: 8/10.

Orignal is still the best?

  • Conclusion: I already had this film on VHS and updated to Blu-ray. I have always liked this film, very atmospheric. It's not full of the latest special effects and some of the acting is a little suspect... but it's a great watch especially if you use your imagination! But I only gave it 4 stars... Why? I expected more on Blu-ray, but I could not really see much difference between the original VHS and Blu-ray. Yes the picture is a little more crisp.

The Fog

  • Conclusion: Made during John Carpenter's golden run of horror films his classic tale of a small California town haunted and terrified by the secrets of it's own past in the form of a mysterious fog that swamps it still stands up as an effective chiller even after over 30 years.

There ain't no fog bank out there!

BarryNormanJunior, play.com

  • Conclusion: Hailed as Carpenters finest work and part of his apocalyptic trilogy, The Fog brings together a handful of fine actors regularly used by Carpenter, stunning visuals and a sense of dread seldom found in the horror genre today. Set in a small town cut off from civilisation, a small group of survivors try to piece together the towns sordid history while on the run from the creeping fog and the horrors concealed within.
