The Expendables

ComingSoon
17 October 2013
  • Excerpt: Do you like your "Dirty Dozen" dirty? Really, really dirty, but without the emotional baggage of characterization or drama? Were you of the right age to enjoy the literally indescribable pleasures of "Raw Deal" or "Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man"? Then "The Expendables" is the movie for you. It's kind of like "Dogs of War" with less introspection and more exploding heads.

The Expendables: Extended Director’s Cut (Blu-ray Review)

whysoblu.com
2 January 2012
  • Conclusion: The Expendables always did have its detractors that made mention that the film was too long or that it took a long time for the ass kickings to start, but I disagree with that. It goes back to the whole you can’t please everybody scenario. If it were a pure blood bath the same people that hated it for being “slow” would complain and say that there was no “story” or something along those lines.

The Expendables (Extended Director’s Cut) (Blu-ray)

upcomingdiscs.com
21 December 2011
  • Summary: The film didn’t quite live up to the hype at the box office. It made a respectable $100 million, but it cost $80 million to make. That’s not the success that Lionsgate was likely counting on with this movie. There was a ton of buzz for over a year as the film made its way through production. In spite of the disappointing take, there is still talk of another film. I expect the budget will have to be scaled back just a touch.

The Expendables: Extended Director's Cut

High-Def Digest
21 December 2011
  • Summary: I reviewed ' The Expendables ' when it first came out on Blu-ray. Now we're getting a Director's Cut. There's an introduction from Sylvester Stallone before the menu comes up with him presenting this cut. He says he likes it better, and it has "more heart." After watching it and comparing it to the original cut, there's nothing in here that warrants an entire new review since it's the same movie all the way around.

The Expendables Blu-ray Review

blu-ray.com
15 December 2011
  • Summary: Would you want a Rambo film where the titular hero stopped every few minutes to bare his soul in one poignant soliloquy after another? That's the basic question facing those who might want to visit this new Extended Director's Cut of The Expendables , Sylvester Stallone's throwback to testosterone fueled, kick butt action flicks of yesteryear.

The Expendables

High-Def Digest

  • Conclusion: I love Stallone as a director. He's dedicated to his craft, and becomes deeply immersed in whatever project he's working on. While 'The Expendables' didn't feel exactly like a return to the old action movies we used to love, it was definitely something we haven't seen for a while. I love it for all its cheesy macho madness, and for all its familiar action faces. The video, for the most part, is incredible, and the audio is going to rumble your house into oblivion.

  • Excerpt: The Film When Sylvester Stallone announced he'd be directing The Expendables , a film designed to bring together some of the biggest badasses in Hollywood for a testosterone-fueled love letter to the action movies of yesteryear, every child of the 80's - including yours truly - dared to dream.

The Expendables Review

DoBlu
23 November 2010
  • Excerpt: Expendables takes you into the inner-workings of a man, where the thought process in a fight is to punch the guy in the face who is clearly on fire. Why? Because you are a man. It’s where the thought process says that when a guy is taking six shots to the body, he still needs a poorly computer generated knife to slide through his chest cavity. Why? Because you are a man. Expendables is a film of many titles, potential winners being Stallone vs. Austin , Li vs.
