Excerpt: The film starts well with a real sense of awe and mystery to the opening act, but once Klaatu escapes and the film reveals its rather heavy handed message, it loses its way. The wider scope of the film gives way to a small scale road movie in a sense and Klaatu's realisation of the value of the human race feels forced and unconvincing, mainly because his positive experiences are limited to rather dull moments between Connelly, Cleese and her son.
Excerpt: I have not seen the original version so I can't compare both versions. Luckily Fox generously included both in a 3-disc edition. That said, overall I found this version enjoyable. The acting of the major characters were good, perhaps with the exception of the boy who simply looked out of place at times. The storyline was okay and intriguing enough to keep my interest throughout the movie.

Excerpt: A Classic 50's sci-fi with a powerful message that still resonates some 50 years later. Sadly nothing has changed much in the past half century. The world's planet is in worst shape than it ever has been and man continues to destroy each other. The film was very simplistic for it's time during the Cold War era but it's impact and overal themes are even more relevant today.
Excerpt: I don't know why this movie is getting such bad reviews. Is it the greatest movie you'll ever see? Probably not. But is it worth 2 hours of your time? Yes! Grab a bowl of popcorn and enjoy! I didn't see this in theaters because of all the bad reviews, however, one night a friend brought it over so I had nothing to lose. It was intense from start to finish. The PQ and AQ are just amazing which adds to the experience.
Excerpt: I downloaded this movie ugh..legally a long while ago and i was so surprised at how good it was so when it came to blu ray I had to get it and im sure glad I did, do your self a favour and check out one of the greatest sci fi movies of all time.
Excerpt: Freaking awesome movie! Love these old Sci-Fi flicks, no matter how silly they seem now, these movies will always be totally cool to me. This was one of the better ones from way back in the day that sent a foreboding warning about the destructive state of the world and how the Earth had better learn to be civil. Picture quality was amazing as well.
Excerpt: I admit that the second half of the movie went a little downhill, with a predictable, contrived ending. I also really didn't like the kid's character much; way too annoying, and his actions didn't make much sense. Other than that, though, I really didn't think this was such a terrible movie. The story is good, and expands upon the original in a few good ways (they gave Klaatu more omnipotent powers, showed more of humanity's weaknesses, and Gort was awesome).

Excerpt: This movie is a classic, without a doubt. It features a clever, original story with strong characters, excellent writing and acting, and strong Cold War themes. Production design features some very slick UFO and robot designs (albiet they are dated). Special effects are great, and still hold up to this day. Photography is excellent. Music is very interesting. The disc has as perfect video and sound quality as one can expect from this film. It has many extra features.
