  • Conclusion: An uneven mix of slapstick, action, and family drama, The Croods never comes together as it intends to. It looks sharp and remains harmless, but fails to make a strong, meaningful impression.

The Croods Blu-ray Review

DoBlu
7 October 2013
  • Excerpt: The Croods inhabit a world of wacky evolution, where birds are covered in turtles shells and land whales munch on ferns, background events which weigh on this primitive family as progress washes over them. Continental drift scrunches them together without the safety of a relied on, damp (and defensive) cave, turning the family into reactionary creatures. They’re led by Guy (Ryan Reynolds), one up on their human evolutionary scale and quick thinking discoverer of fire.

The Croods (Blu-ray Review)

  • Conclusion: I was not expecting to be wowed by The Croods , but I did want to see it and I am happy that I did.  While not a great animated feature, it is fun for what it is and made better by its solid animation work and moments of cleverness.  The Blu-ray is a pretty solid choice for anyone looking for great video and sound, but it feels lacking in the extras department.

The Croods

Cinema Blend

  • Excerpt: The Croods opens with a visual reminder that spiffy digital animation actually belongs to an ancient line of storytelling methods that can be traced back to cave-wall paintings. These doodles helped pass narratives down from one generation to the next. Sadly, Croods itself likely won’t enjoy such staying power, as its sentimental messages are garbled by its noisy, repetitive action sequences.

  • Excerpt: In the animated adventure-comedy The Croods , the eponymous family of Neanderthals is forced to leave the relative safety of their cave, where they’ve successfully dodged the adapt-or-die proposition that has wiped off their equally less evolved neighbors. As they make their way into the wider world, with all its attendant dangers and wonders, there’s never any question where the film stands in the conflict between ignorance and knowledge, security and open-mindedness,...

Croodarna

  • Excerpt: Croodarna handlar om en familj grottmänniskor som lever efter faderns motto att allt nytt är farligt. En hälsosam inställning i en värld där man riskerar livet så fort ena foten klivit utanför grottöppningen. Men tråkig.
