The Bourne Legacy

ComingSoon
17 October 2013
  • Excerpt: What to do with an action movie franchise missing its original star and creators? Recently that sort of thing has offered studios two choices: to restart the series from scratch, or to attempt to carry on with new actors and creative personnel. The vogue at the moment is to go with the former, so it’s pleasantly surprising then that Universal has decided to carry on with the story they began way back in 2001's "The Bourne Identity," not just with new actors but with...

The Bourne Legacy (Blu-ray)

DVD Verdict
17 December 2012
  • Excerpt: Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner, Marvel's The Avengers ) is a member of Operation Outcome, an ultra-secret government program that uses chemicals to enhance the physical and mental capabilities of its agents. The program is essentially a new version of Operation Treadstone, the program responsible for the creation of Jason Bourne (played quite successfully by our memories of Matt Damon).

The Bourne Legacy

BluRay Authority
13 December 2012
  • Excerpt: I really liked the first three Bourne movies and will freely admit that Matt Damon made for a very good Jason Bourne.  He embodied the anti-hero on the run that was brought forth in Robert Ludlum’s novels from the 70’s.  They were both critically and commercially successful and no doubt helped make Matt Damon into the “A” list star he was today (though I’m sure the Ocean’s …movies helped with that as well).

  • Excerpt: The Film It's been five years since the last installment in the Bourne franchise. Now, our action hero is back, but seems to look a little bit different. In fact, he looks a lot like that Hawkeye guy. After 2007's The Bourne Ultimatum , star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass opted not to return to the franchise.

  • Summary: "The Bourne Legacy" doesn't do enough to expand the mythology of the Bourne franchise and the results are an entirely conventional though well-made action pic.

The Bourne Legacy

Cinema Blend
10 August 2012
  • Excerpt: The Bourne Legacy arrives as the promised continuation of a mega-franchise, but it's worth remembering that even Jason Bourne had humble origins. The Bourne Identity arrived in 2002 as a sleeper hit-- it finished second at the box office its opening weekend to Scooby-Doo -- and it took many people a while to cotton to the way Matt Damon and Doug Liman had given the spy thriller a sleek, soulful update.
