Excerpt: The new Warner Bros. Blu-ray of The Big Parade is, hands down, the best high definition transfer of a 1920s movie that I have seen to date. This 1925 silent film, which was given a 4K restoration from the recently- discovered original camera negative, shines with unexpectedly brilliant detail. It's trite to say that a Blu-ray presentation of an old movie looks as through it were filmed yesterday, but that is the best way that I can describe this release.
Summary: The blu-ray of "The Big Parade" looks amazing, considering the film is nearly 90 years old. this is a key silent film, directed by King Vidor, and the visuals are terrific - the battle scenes in All Quiet on the Western Front, and probably Paths of Glory and Platoon, were likely influenced by the battle scenes here - they look remarkably similar.
Pros: Great Cinematography, Great restoration, High Production Value, Important Film, Influential Film, Key Silent Film, Original, Realistic Battle Scenes
