Sorority Row Blu-ray Review

blu-ray.com
15 March 2010
  • Conclusion: Less discerning genre fans might take to Sorority Row , the latest paint-by-the-numbers slasher to bloody up Blu-ray, but more demanding horrorphiles will find it endlessly derivative and lacking in both intensity and innovation. Not every horror film has to raise the bar or change the rules, but Sorority Row sticks so staunchly to convention that it all but disappears into the plots, kills, and characters of its predecessors.

Sorority Row Review

DoBlu
23 February 2010
  • Excerpt: To its limited credit, Sorority Row does try some unique things. Director Stewart Hendler plays with the camera, over exposes film, utilizes different film stocks, and gives each scene a unique feel. This is a slasher film that is, at the least, interesting to look at. Behind the cinematic pizzazz is everything you would expect.

On DVD and Blu-ray: Sorority Row

movieline.com
20 November 2009
  • Excerpt: Sorority Row targets that narrow cross section of the population who are both slasher film fans and people willing to watch Rumer Willis act. The film also is best seen by anyone not familiar with Scream , since the ruling principles of both films are the same: cozy, anonymous town terrorized by a killer, cameo by a celebrity (okay, in this case it's a reality show "celebrity") who gets offed in the first ten minutes, a series of creative slashings and gashings, and a...

  • Excerpt: Paint by numbers horror is tiresome, but horror movies should work within the genre. When they color too far outside the lines fans get lost. Sorority Row has all of the necessary elements to make it a typical slasher flick but at the same time tries to put a fresh coat of primer on the genre in an effort to find a happy medium between those two alternatives. While the film never quite reaches that middle ground, it sure provides a damn good time while trying to find it.

Sorority Row

AV Club
11 September 2009
  • Excerpt: Late in the dire college slasher flick Sorority Row , the killer takes some time away from impaling hateful victims to explain why the world will be a better place without all the awful people who didn’t survive the movie. And you know what? The psychopath has a point. Nobody in Sorority Row has a shred of decency—it’s like the school from The Rules Of Attraction with a lobotomy and a botched boob job—so the maniac in the black robe can’t help but emerge as the sole...

Expert Review

FILMDUDE
10 September 2009
  • Excerpt: "Sorority Row" is a typical 80's slasher remake aimed at horny teenagers, promising a few thrills and a few hot girls. The premise evaporates pretty quickly and you won't scream, but rather laugh at the parade of horror clichés and squealing, bra-clad, sorority girls. Definitely not the smartest or scariest horror flick you'll see, but possibly one of the most fun to watch if you don't take it too seriously.
