A Quite Sinister Atmosphere!

Boothill Gunslinger, blu-ray.com
7 March 2013
  • Excerpt: Atmosphere ... atmosphere ... atmosphere. It looks like it would be hard to say as a potential tongue-twister, but it isn't. However, say "Sinister" over and over as fast as you can, and ... Class A Tongue Twister. Much like the story that makes up this little gem. There is something to say about movies that can be frighteningly good--the kind that give you shivers down your spine and make the hair on your arms stand on end--without any over-the-top gore or torture porn.

Mr. Boogie...

bmsmcr, blu-ray.com
21 February 2013
  • Excerpt: I'm not a real big fan of horror movies. Of late I've found them all to be boring and predictable. I heard some buzz about Sinister so I thought I would check it out just to see what all the fuss was about. I will come right out and say this, Sinister is the scariest movie I have ever seen. Granted I have not seen every single horror movie, but I've seen a good few. This movie is effective on many levels and is just flat out creepy and disturbing.

Best Horror Film in a Long Time

AndyH916, blu-ray.com
20 February 2013
  • Excerpt: "Sinister" is a somewhat flawed but highly effective horror movie, that chooses to use clever imagery and music to achieve the desired effect, instead of blood and gore. This film, like many of the great classic horror films, relies on atmosphere...and it is very effective. This is the first time Ethan Hawke has appeared in a film of this genre, and he is fantastic. The fact that "Sinister's" script broke his refusal to do horror should speak to this film's credit.

Creepy

DustyMonkey, blu-ray.com
20 February 2013
  • Excerpt: I would call this movie creepy, not scary. It has a lot of jumpy moments but never really "shows" anything scary. It did keep me entertained, though. And the acting was really strong. PQ top quality, as are most recent Summit releases. Audio also excellent.

Something WICKED this way comes!

  • Conclusion: From the very start this movie establishes a raw and bleak tone. It certainly seems that imagery is a vital element of this tour de force! With disjointed images that are truly chilling to the 'found footage' elements, there are more than a few sights to chill the bones!
