Not the worst movie but not near as good as the first one

  • Excerpt: This movie is a mediocore take on the silent hill franchise. its kinda confusing and is some times hard to understand whats going on since the storyline is pathetic The video portion of it looks good, there isnt much grain and it looks like a new film should look. the 3d section is a mixed bag sometimes it looks great mainly in the pop out scenes which involves any deaths. the depth of the film is ok apart from some scenes do seem quite flat.

Terribly Disappointing Sequel, No Real Features, Pretty Good 3D

UFAlien, blu-ray.com

  • Excerpt: Silent Hill: Revelation is a stylishly-shot, sporadically scary, atmospheric and gory horror film that is thoroughly crippled by poor acting and an absolutely terrible, amateurish script. Strong writing isn't exactly a hallmark of horror cinema, and this film's 2006 predecessor certainly had its own share of script issues, but the writing in this film is among the worst of any theatrically-released film of the century.

  • Excerpt: This movie is very well made, gruesome effects, awesome visuals, great sound. Not sure why all the hate. Story is very average horror but it's based on a video game. Very enjoyable bluray!

Awful

  • Excerpt: Wow, this movie was BAD. I enjoyed the first one quite a bit so naturally I was excited to see this one. But unfortunately, it was a trainwreck. The story didn't make a lot of sense, and the movie was basically gross and disturbing. the only redeeming factor was that the PQ was quite good and audio was excellent. Still would not rate the movie above a 2 though.

  • Excerpt: If not totally then i am 90% agree to reviewer. Above all if someone is so touchy about his review then why not check it on imdb.com facts will be clear there not here. People dont go for positive reviewers. I slept almost half of the movie. There are some popout scenes and you see some depth but not through out movie. Many shots simply look like 2D. Video also has some grains. But audio is fantastic.

Awesome 3D

CSM101, blu-ray.com

  • Excerpt: I'm going to have to back the two user reviewers on the quality of the 3D, it's awesome. I enjoyed this movie more than the first one because it isn't overly long like the previous one. It isn't great but it is very atmospheric and can be really creepy at times. A good popcorn flick with friends and family and tons of fun in 3rd dimension.

Reference-quality 3D at its finest

Operation Swordfish, blu-ray.com
20 February 2013
  • Excerpt: The person who wrote the Blu-Ray.com review couldn't have gotten it any more wrong on the 3D if he tried. The 3D is this flick is absolutely reference-quality awesome. There is constant depth throughout the entire movie, almost to the quality of Hugo. Besides the amazing depth, there are many pop-out effects, some that come a couple feet out of the screen. I'm usually not a fan of the "gimmicky pop-out 3D" but for horror movies it works absolutely fantastically.

"Awful, disjointed, so different from first Silent Hill movie."

Jin, Mighty Ape
23 February 2013
  • Summary: For once I wish I listened to general opinion. I really enjoyed the first Silent Hill movie – it was different, it was all smart scares instead of cheap scares, it was thought provoking, special effects were good, storyline was solid. Silent Hill Revelation on the other hand, is terribly disjointed, it's like bits of stories here and there that don't quite tie together.
