Excerpt: Thankfully we are not talking about the movie ‘The Happening’; one of the lowest points in a once-promising film-makers career. Welcome to the world of M. Night Shyamalan; A place where every moment of suspense is stretched to the breaking point, but he somehow managed to tap into populist fears while giving these intimate stories that he directed better than his latter works.
Summary: I wonder what's m.night shyamalan next movie is going to be called I think it is going to be called what a twist. the signs .okay so people that I know like this movie and I don't see why?.this movie is rubbish and it is boring and they is a lot of plot holes in the movie.
Excerpt: Possibly M. Night Shyamalan's most assured piece of craftsmanship. Many may not be head over heels over the denouement, but I felt the camera placement was clever enough to mask the limitations of computer generated imagery of the time. Each shot is executed for maximum effect. It also seems as if the film was inspired in part by The Exorcist.
Summary: After the huge success of The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, Signs is the first time we got to sneak a peek behind Shyamalan's curtain. Basically the decent and atmospheric build-up leads to one of the most piss-poor plot "twists" ever making it one of the most disappointing and anti-climactic movies I've ever seen.
Summary: Shyamalan shows the type of restraint and emotional insight he showed in the Sixth Sense and skillfully directs Mel Gibson's portrayal of a grieving preacher, with an alien invasion as the backdrop. The characters and themes don't get overwhelmed by the extraterrestrial action and the film is both chilling and moving.
Excerpt: If you spend some time reading through the reviews of Signs on the various sites, you'll see there are very different opinions. Some people don't like it at all, and some think it's great. My advice - judge for yourself. This movie gripped me from the minute it started and didn't let go till it was over. The knock some have regarding the director's focus on atmosphere really I don't understand - that focus is part of what makes this a wonderful film.
Excerpt: The movie itself was great. The story line was very good. I didn't catch everything the first time I saw it, but the second time made me really understand the whole "there are no coincidences" theme. There was humor. Even though this isn't supposed to be a funny movie, I had more laughs from this than some comedies I've seen. There are some really good OMG scenes too. The acting is great. Mel Gibson is a really good actor in my opinion.
