Summary: A new take on the old legend - Sherlock Holmes and the ever-present Watson are still on the case to unravel a nefarious plot to destroy the country, but this time he's just as keen using his fists as his mind. Sherlock is back and ready to make another movie of him in action. Robert Downey Jr. did alright Sherlock but to me Sherlock Holmes is a fast talker, crack head the loves the sound of bars closing in on the murder.
Summary: Bringing his signature kinetic action directing style to a new universe, Guy Ritchie creates a film that shies away from the more philosophical elements of the Holmsian world in lieu of a slick and very entertaining action thriller. The pseudo-dystopian universe is beautifully realized and the action set pieces that frequently populate the film are a marvel to watch. Of course, the film's heart is a charming and lively portrayal by Robert Downey Jr.
Excerpt: Movie was much better than I thought it would be. Law and Downey Jr. were great together. I thought the PQ was top notch. Sure there was grain present, and heavy in some spots, but it fits the overall feel of the movie. Audio was strong and dynamic. 4.99 at Best Buy, so I couldn't pass it up.
Excerpt: I really enjoyed the film. Had me drawn in form beginning to end but its not without its flaws. The Audio was superb and on cue but the PQ quality needs work. To much Grain, Dark scenes did not look the best & there was some blurry scenes at times. The PQ was not as bad as I make it because I would say 85% of the movie for PQ was amazing. alot of parts had me blown away at times.
Summary: The movie was great, but it was a little complicated to understand. The acting was great, especially Robert Downey Jr. I would recommend this movie and the next one (A Game of Shadows). I look forward to seeing more Sherlock Holmes movies coming out!!!
Summary: I absolutely love this movie. It is one of the best movies that I have seen in a while. The action is amazing and the cinematography was incredible. Robert JR. was brilliant with playing this character. I do wish the movie would have felt a little more like the books, but it was still very well done.
Summary: I am a loyal Sherlock Holmes fan and loved the old Basil Rathbone, Nigel Bruce movies. However, Dr. Watson was portrayed as loyal but a bit of a bumbler. The orginal stories of Doyle portrayed him quite differently. Not on Holmes intellectual level but not a bumbler. I think that this current version portrays the good doctor as Doyle meant him to be. The action is fast, with plot twists galore. Good fun and very enjoyable.
Summary: I've watched this version of Holmes a number of times now, and I must admit it surprises me in its subtlety and intelligence every time. As earlier reviews have noted, in the main this is actually a quite faithful representation of Holmes and Watson in light of the original stories (which I've read and, indeed, taught a number of times).
Summary: This is a very good movie in all aspects. Great Cinematography, good actors, wonderful adaption of the story and plot everything makes this movie a great movie. I enjoyed it a lot and will watch it again and again. The story however was very simple but presented in a wonderful way.
